Daisy looked around her small apartment. She nearly called Lily to cancel on her but she knew better than that.Daisy sighed and went inside her bedroom. Her bedroom was a cozy mix of work and comfort. Her Queen sized bed was layered with a pink duvet and 4 white and pink pillows.Even at her age she still adores pink.
A small desk sat in the corner, stacked with wedding magazines, her laptop, and a few fabric swatches. A corkboard on the wall held photos, color samples, and notes for her clients. The window let in the gray February light, and a little plant on the windowsill added a touch of green. It wasn’t fancy, but it felt like home. She was happy to be able to afford a place like this.Only God knows how much she was making end meets sometimes because her business was not making much, she really was in need of more clients.
Daisy stepped into her small bathroom after she took off her clothes and dropped them on the floor.Towels hung on the rack, slightly wrinkled from yesterday. Her toothbrush and a few skincare bottles sat on the sink, along with a half-empty cup of coffee she’d left from this morning. She turned on the tap to fill her small tub, letting the hot water run as she ran a hand through her hair, taking a moment to breathe before starting to brush her teeth.
Daisy took less than 20 minutes in the bathroom because she knew she was running late.
She stepped back into her bedroom, the warmth of the room hitting her after the steamy bathroom. She wrapped herself in a soft robe, tugging it tight around her shoulders. Her hair still damp, she glanced at the piles of dirty clothes she left on the floor.
Picking the dirty clothes up ,her doorbell rang. She paused, startled for a second, then remembered, her lingerie order had arrived. Blushing a little at the thought, she tiptoed to the door.
Daisy opened the door and blinked. Lily was standing there, holding the small package with a grin. Behind her, the delivery man was already walking away down the hall. “I got it!” Lily said, wiggling the box slightly. Daisy laughed, shaking her head as she stepped aside to take it, feeling both embarrassed and amused.
"I see you are not ready."Lily said as she stepped inside her apartment.
Daisy laughed slightly before shrugging her shoulders and led the way to her bedroom.Lily followed her and sat on her bed already opening the package to see what was inside.
Daisy was a bit shy to see Lily's reaction so she started to put lotion on her body ignoring Lily's excitement.
"OMG Daisy is this what i think it it?" Lily asked loudly and Daisy smiled and hid her face with her hands.
"Jesus Daisy i'm so happy for you as long as these are not for Romeo."
"They are not for Romeo."Daisy gave a short answer, opening her closet and peeked inside running her short fingers over the hangers not knowing what to wear.
Lily came and stood beside her before taking our her bold pink above the knee bodycon."This one will look good on you."Lily said and Daisy nodded in agreement before closing her closet.
Daisy slipped into the soft, lacy lingerie she had just received, the delicate fabric hugging her curves in all the right places. She took a moment to smooth it out, adjusting the straps and letting herself admire the way it made her feel confident, playful, and completely herself. A small smile curved her lips.Sometimes, it was the little things like this that made a day feel special.
She then slipped into her bold pink above the knee bodycon dress, the soft fabric hugging her curves in all the right places. She pulled on a black cropped jacket over it and laced up her ankle boots, feeling both confident and warm enough for the February chill. A pair of gold hoops and her favorite clutch finished the look—simple, bold, and perfect for a night out.
Daisy rummaged through her jewelry box, pulling out a pair of rose-gold hoops and a delicate pendant necklace. She slipped them on, smiling at the subtle sparkle in the mirror. She sprayed her Vanilla perfume and bodymist and stared at her on the mirror.
Lily smiled behind her while snapping pictures.
"You look like a bad b***h Dee."Lily said wile fanning herself dramatically.Daisy Laughed and took her small black clutch bag and her wallet."Let's go big sis,"Daisy said before looking at herself one last time.
Outside Daisy glanced at Lily's car.
She slipped her clutch under her arm and tugged her pink mini dress into place, the soft wool of her jacket warming her against the February chill. Lily was already at the door, bouncing slightly on her heels.
“Ready?” she asked, holding the car keys like a trophy.
“As I’ll ever be,” Daisy said, grinning.
The car pulled out onto the quiet Astoria streets, steam curling from manholes and mixing with the city’s soft neon glow. Lily turned on the radio, and a familiar pop song filled the small space. Daisy laughed as they both sang along, off-key and loud, the sound bouncing between them.
“I still can’t believe you wore pink,” Lily teased, glancing at her sister in the rearview mirror.
“It’s my power color,” Daisy shot back, spinning a little in her seat just to see the fabric move.
They drove through Queens, the skyline of Manhattan growing taller with every block. Steam rose from street vendors’ carts, and Daisy watched the lights flicker off shop windows, taking it all in.
“Hot chocolate?” Lily asked suddenly, making a quick detour. The vendor handed over steaming cups, and Daisy wrapped her hands around the warmth, sipping and smiling.
“Okay,” Daisy said after a quiet moment. “I have no idea what tonight will bring… but I’m ready.”
Lily laughed. “That’s the spirit. SoHo, here we come.”
And with that, the car merged into the bright chaos of downtown Manhattan, the night ahead full of possibilities they couldn’t yet imagine.
