  Theodore's POV   "Adeline! Adeline! Open up!" I banged on the door, hitting my knuckles hard on it, but I got no response from Adeline.   I stood there, listening, hoping for even the smallest sound—her footsteps, her breath, anything—but there was only silence.   I refused to walk away. I waited, resting my body against the doorframe, my heart pounding in my chest, louder than my fists against the door.   "Adeline!" I called again, louder this time, banging harder.
