My Little Family

It’s finally the weekend and El is on her way here, Lysander is sitting on my bed as I get dressed for work. Ly is pretty hyper, he also so protective of me, he comes with me to work and just sits in the kitchen watching over me. When I have down time we go for walks around the grounds, so he can get in some exercise and I can relax from work. Jacob hasn’t met Ly yet but I’m sure he’ll meet him soon and when he comes over tonight with El. Ly growled as I pulled my hair back into my bun. Since I’m working till lunch I don’t have to do today. Ly kept growling at the stairs. I turned to him and put my finger up to my lips, he stopped before licking his nose.

I walked up to pat him on the head, he’s so sweet to me when I was upset the day he laid on my chest and just licked my face. I finished slipping on my black lace baby flat straightening out my royal blue shoulder cut out. Ly started growling again causing me to jump; the doorbell rang forcing me walk down the stairs, Ly followed close behind me. I opened the door to see the stalker; he is wearing a dark gray suit with a black button up shirt. His hair was pulled back into a man bun with the sides of head shaved. He smiled holding out a single chocolate cosmos, how does these people find these flowers?

Ly growled stepping in front of me at the stalker; he looked down at Ly glaring back at him. I cleared my throat before patting Ly on his head; he stopped growling before sitting down. I have only had Ly for 5 days and honestly he reads me so well I swear he can understand me without me talking. I looked up at the stalker with a confused look on my face waiting for him to explain what he was doing here. He looked back up at me smiling softly, moon goddess what is his name? I swear I’m going to pay him to tattoo it on his face for me, he held the flower out for me with his other arm behind his back.

“So you really are my”—

“Before you call me a stalker did you even bother to look me up?” He asked cutting me off as I took the flower from him.

“How would I do that?” I asked

“If you remember my name you could look me up… and you don’t remember it do you?” he asked answering his own question, I giggled shaking my head. “Well I’m late for work but I wanted to give you this and I guess I’ll give you my card as well.” He said pulling out a business card. I took the card before putting it in my back pocket not even looking at it.

“Well I’ve been a little busy lately, Mr. — I want to say it’s Edward? Elijah?” I guessed

“Ezra, I swear I’m going to find a way for you to remember my name.” he said

“Ezra, it’s a different name can you blame me? Not to mention, I have a baby wolf now, I work roughly 15 hours a day and I have a little sister to worry about.” I said

“Please do me one favor before I leave.” He said as I step out of my house with Ly right behind me. I turned to him closing my door, not even bothering to lock it, no one can enter that I don’t trust.

“What is that Mr. Ezra?” I asked as all started walking towards the main house. He chuckled nodding his head, before turning to face me completely. “If you asked me on another date I’ll scream.” I said fighting back the laughter

“No, if I could maybe have your number so I can help you remember my name. I’m spending millions on these flowers and I feel you should know where they’re coming from at least.” He said

“Oh yes about these flowers, have me met before? I’ve been getting these for over a year now and I don’t ever remember meeting you.” I said

“I’ll tell you if you give me your number.” He said I bit my bottom lip so I didn’t say anything sarcastic before holding out my hand. He pulled his phone out handing it over to me; I typed my name and number into the contacts adding a little knife emoji by my name. I gave him back his phone and started walking away from me.

“Excuse me; you’re supposed to tell me if we’ve met before?” I asked raising my voice so he can hear me. He turned with a huge smile on his face like he won the lottery, as he continues to walk away from me.

“I’m late for work but I’ll text you later. I swear.” He said before turning back around walking away. I shook my head looking down at Ly as he looked up at me.

“You boys are crazy,” I said before walking towards the kitchen entrance in the main house, I noticed a note in the window me as soon as I walked in. I pick up the note to read the reminder that I have tonight and tomorrow night off to spend with my sister. I’m honestly so excited to see her today, I haven’t just hung out with my sister in years. Don’t get me wrong we video chat and talk on the phone, but we haven’t just had time for us to just hang out. I’m smiled putting the note on the cooler before going over to wash my hands, as Ly sat in his bed in the corner of the kitchen. “Alright boy let’s get to work.” I said as I started to prepare breakfast

I smiled as Alice walked into the kitchen with a floor length red spaghetti strap dress, her hair is up in a loose curly bun as she attempted to put in her earrings. I whistle slightly as she stopped in front of me, she smiled softly looking down at her feet. They have some fancy charity dinner for the next three days but the last day is only for the adults so I still have to cook for the children. Michael has warned me that they came back drunk on the last night so to have snacks ready for them because they like to eat. I already know the perfect late night snack for drunks, she grabbed one my sweet molasses rolls. I decided to try a new recipe for the next dinner party in a few weeks. She bit into the roll hoping not to mess up her makeup, her eyes widen before stuffing the whole roll in her mouth.

“This is delicious. Can we have these with dinner Monday?” She asked in between her chewing the roll before grabbing another. I nod my head as she walked over to Ly; she bent down to let him on the head. “Okay we have Andrew picking up El for you and we’ll be back home about 10 pm.” She said

“Don’t be afraid to use the gym or the movie theater or whatever you girls want.” She said before heading to the door.

“Thank you Alice.” I said

“Oh and remember don’t let Jacob have a party tonight or tomorrow night please, I hate he smell of vomit in my house after his parties.” She said before walking out of the kitchen, I chuckled as I finished cleaning the kitchen. I turned off the lights before locking the door; I started walking out of the kitchen with Ly following close behind me.

“Come on boy, go use the bathroom.” I said pointing towards the forest; he looked up at me before running towards the forest. I continue walking towards my house, it’s not like he needs my permission he comes and goes as he pleases. Lately I’ve notice that he won’t leave my side unless we’re playing or I’m working or sleeping. I think he worries about me, which is crazy he’s a wolf he should be like wanting to run around in the forest stuff like that. He does enjoy hunting by himself. I reached the house just as he was leaving the forest; he looked towards the mansion for me. He looks so lost my poor baby I’ve ruined him for any she wolf ever; I let out a loud whistle causing him to turn to me. He turned before sprinting towards me. He slowed down as he reached the house walking up to me; he licked my hand as I opened the door. “Ew, I know where that tongue has been.” I jumped.

I pulled out my phone as I sat on the couch, Ly push the door close before jumping onto my lap. I rubbed his head as I sent El a text, I don’t want to get too comfortable before she gets here. Ly jumped off the couch running upstairs, I put my phone down before following him up to the bedroom. He laid on the bed curling up in a ball. He is so spoiled I hope he realizes his sharing this bed with El for the next few nights. I shook my head trying to pick him up off the bed; he started whimpering rolling himself out over my arms. I tried to pick him up again and he unrolled himself in my arms rolling out of my arms again. Why is he acting like this today?

“Lysander, up or no treats for you.” He raised his head look at me before placing his head on the bed. “Are you pouting? Why?” I asked he let out a loud snort still not paying me any attention. “Are mad I was on my phone?” I asked his ears pop up, “Do you wanna play?” I asked he started wagging his tail against the bed. “You want to play? Come on Ly let’s go play.” I said he jumped up onto his feet before turning to me still wagging his tail. He let out a howl followed by a whimper; I chuckled grabbing a bone he found in a forest one day. He jumped off the bed before letting out another howl. 

“Is that my fur nephew?” I heard, I turned to see El walking up the stairs to my room, I screamed running over to her. I wrapped my around her. She pulled away from me smiling at Ly as he started growling at El.

“No Lysander, this is family.” I said in a stern voice, he dropped his tail before walking up to us. He sniffed El as she bent down to his level. “She’s family, Ly we like this one.” I said he started licking her face before wagging his tail.

“Aw, look at you so cute.” She said rubbing his head; he finally is seeing that she not here to harm me or him.

“Come one let’s go out and play.” I said He stopped licking her and looked up at me. I smiled softly holding out his bone, he ran down the stairs as I turned to El. “Do you want to get comfortable while I run your fur nephew around.” I said

“No, I want to spend as much time as possible with you. You’re the only family I have that cares about me. I miss you. Plus I want to know about my little nephew.” She said we walked down the stairs looking around my little house. “Place is adorable. I knew Alice had great taste but wow this is awesome.” She said

“Yeah I love it here. It’s comfortable and cozy.” I said I opened the door for Ly, I tossed his bone into the forest causing him to chase after it. “So what do you want to do? Alice gave me permission to use whatever for your stay.” I said

“Well tonight I just want to be with you. I don’t care what we do.” She said sitting on the porch. I sat next to her pulling my hair out of the bun as Ly ran out of the forest with the bone in his mouth. He ran up to us dropping the bone, El picked up the bone and lifted it with her magic, her eyes started glowing a light purple as she tossed the bone deep into the forest.  He eyes returned back to their natural chocolate color. My little sister, she looks so much like that woman who gave birth to us. Her hair in 2 French braids down her back, she turned to me smiling softly. “So how did you get so lucky to get Lysander?” She asked

“Well Daniel and Alice got him for me, Alice wanted to wait until my birthday but Daniel wanted to give him to me on the anniversary of me being free.” I said she raise one of her eyebrows in confusion. “Daniel did a background check on me and found out about the people who kicked me out of the house.” I said she gasp before covering her mouth.

“I swear I asked him not to. I didn’t want them to know.” She said

“He didn’t tell Alice, only he knows. He wanted to just tell me how he is proud of me for being so brave and well rounded. He’s a great man, I’m happy to call him my boss; he actually cares about me and my family.” I said wrapping my around her shoulder.

“Really? So they gave you Ly?” she asked I nod as Ly appeared at the edge of the forest, he looked at us with it looks to be a rabbit in his mouth. Oh great that’s his dinner is rabbit again, I told you his can very independent or very dependent. He start running towards us, he stopped running and turned his head towards the forest. He dropped the rabbit and started chasing after something in the forest. “Should we check on him?” she asked

“No, he goes and chase after anything that moves in the forest to protect me.” I said she smiled looking out the forest. “So how is class? How’s your boyfriend? How life?” I asked leaning back on the rail of the porch.

“What boyfriend?! I’m single focusing on my school work.” She said as her cheeks were slightly pink. “Besides when are you getting a boyfriend or girlfriend? You’ve been single since I’ve started college.” She said she laughing I shook my head; I love my sister she drives me so crazy.

“I’m talking about you and Michael.” I said she turned her head away from me.

“I don’t know what you are talking about. We’re just friends.” She said

“Don’t lie to me; you know I will find out even if I have to force it out.” I said she shook her head looking at the sky. “Let go in I’m starving.” I said standing up. “I leave the door open for him and he closes it after himself.” I said she stood up and followed me into the house, I went straight to the kitchen and started to cook us something to eat. We talked about everything that has happened in our lives, she was telling me about how she's thinking of getting a job to pay rent. I don't understand why I'm paying it for her. All the money I make here is going towards her and my saving account.

“Why do you need to pay rent when I’m already doing that for you?” I asked taking a sip of my wine.

“Well I want to start helping out.” She said drinking her wine. She’s only to drink with me or the coven, she enjoys wine with me but mostly because I trust her judgment. “Besides after this semester I need to get an internship and it’ll be paid so I might stay there to help pay for everything.” She said before eating her Oreos.

“Where are you interning?” I asked eating some of the chips and salsa. Ly walked in covered in mud. “The hell were you fighting?!” I yelled jumping up from the couch; he put his tail between his legs. I put my glass on the coffee table as El started laughing, I walked up the stairs. I went into my bathroom turning on the light. I started running a bath for him, El walked into the bathroom with Ly right behind her.

“He tried to sit on the couch.” She said I shook my head smiling at him.

“Come on Ly, I have to bathe you or you’re sleeping outside.” I said Ly walked up to me before climbing into the warm tub. We laughed as Ly laid in the tub pouting, I started to give him a bath, and El grabbed a handful of baths and put them on top of Ly's head. Ly shook his head before shaking himself free of most of the water dripping off him. El squealed covering her face from the flying water and bubbles. I poured some water over his body rinsing off the soap, he looked up at me. I placed a kiss on his nose; he licked my face before turning to El. He licked her face as I dumped more water on him to clean him up. Done!

“Look at my handsome nephew.” She said I giggled grabbing a towel for him; I drained the now light brown water. Ly jumped out the tub I wrapped the towel around him smiling as he tried to shaking it off.

“My precious baby boy.” I said he started to wag his tail as I rubbed him with the towel. “I’ll clean the tub later let’s go back downstairs.” I said standing up; he looked up me before running out of the kitchen. El and walked out the bathroom laughing as Ly was rubbing his face and neck against the towel on the floor. We headed back downstairs sitting on the couch, Ly joined us sitting at my feet. I rubbed his head as El and I continued to talk and drink our wine.

“I swear I want to one day just take you away from all this.” El said as we talked about my stalker. She asked about the man from the store the other day and I told her about him turning up here this morning.

“Don't worry I can handle myself just fine, you need to worry about yourself.” I said

“You always worry about me but I’m not allowed to worry about you? This guy you don’t know! Showed up here at your house first thing in the morning. He’s a creep hoping to drink up all of your blood and cut up your body disposing it in a lake.” She said slamming down her empty glass. I get why she’s nervous about this guy but he seems harmless. He seems like he really wants to get to know me or sleep with me one or the other. She looked at me with a worried look on her face before looking at the door.

“There is a protection barrier on this house where only me, you, Ly, and Jacob.” I said grabbing her hand. “Besides he seem harmless if he wanted to hurt me why tell me his name or give me his business card?” I asked

“I want you to promise me something sis.” She said

“Anything,” I mumbled as Lysander started licking my feet. She let out a deep sigh before turning to me.

“Promise me, you’ll find someone to love and take care of you. You deserve to be happy and spoiled too. Not something sociopath that’ll hurt you.” She said

“I can’t guarantee anything but I’ll try.” I said smiling at her as my phone dinged telling me I had a text.
