Chapter 10

Few minutes more

"Greige, wait!"

I am now breathing hardly because of running after him.

He stopped mid-step and turned to me. Greige glanced at Bella right beside him and she nodded before walking away from us.

I walked to him and cleared my throat. "I'm sorry for what I acted yesterday," I sincerely apologized and lowered my head a bit, kind a embarassed of how rude I was towards him after he drove me back to our house yesterday. I just realized how bad is it, you know.

Greige nodded. "It's okay. It doesn't matter to me if you will or will not thank me for what I did. It's just a small thing to me."

Parang bigla akong napahiya sa sinabi niya. So dapat pala hindi na ako nag-apologize sa kanya dahil hindi naman big deal ang pagiging rude ko sa kanya?! Ugh! This doesn't make sense at all! Napahiya pa ako. I confidently raised my chin and gaze at him. I seems so small when I'm with him. He's taller than me.

"O—Okay! But I already apologized to you. So, if it doesn't a big deal for you, at least I apologized. Bye," I flipped my first first before I ran myself out of that place.

I let out a breath when I hopped in the car. I covered myself with my hands. 

"Damn it!" I cursed underneath my breath and video call my friends. They immediately answered it after a few rings.

Lexie and Reine was still on their way back to their home. 

"What is it?" si Lexie at tumawa.

"Oo nga. Why did you suddenly call?" si Reine naman at seryoso lamang ang mukha. I heaved a sigh and leaned my back on the backrest.

"Remember what I told you this earlier?" 

"What is it? Ang dami nating pinag-usapan kanina, Genieva," natatawang sagot ni Lexie. I rolled my eyes.

"About yesterday! Kay Greige!" 

"Oh.. what's with him?" tanong ni Reine.

"Oo nga. What happened? Nasa sasakyan ka ba ulit?" si Lexie naman at binigyan ako ng malisyosong tingin. Mabuti na lamang at naka earbuds ako kaya hindi rinig ng driver ang sinabi ni Lexie. Not that we're talking about something bad. Wala lang, baka akalain ng driver namin na kung kani-kaninong lalaki na ako sumasama.

"Of course, not! That will never happen again. Over my dead body," I answered and deeply frowned. Natawa silang dalawa.

"So ano ngang nangyari?" 

"I apologized to him. Hindi ako nag-thank you sa kanya kahapon, right?"

"Oo."

"But what I did was just a shame. He told me that it wasn't a big deal after all so he kind a doesn't care if I will thank him or not."

"Oohh.. savage," pang-asar ni Lexie at humagalpak ng tawa. I glared at her. She's not helping!

"I should never talk to him or be around him from now on. He's also a bit rude," I said as I ran a hand through my hair. 

I glanced outside the window and tall buildings are everywhere. I looked away and just focused myself on the screen.

"Oo nga pala. I put your solo picture on my story on insta. Marco reacted 'love' on it. While Greige just seen my story," kwento ni Reine at bahagyang ngumiti. 

"That Marco is also my problem. He keeps bugging me. Pinapakisamahan ko lang siya sometimes because I feel bad rin kapag tinatanggihan ko siya. I don't know why," I replied and shrugged my shoulders.

Lexie's eyes narrowed. "Hmm.. mamaya baka gusto mo na rin si Marco ha! Nako, Genieva!" aniya na siyang ikinalaki ng mga mata ko.

"What?! No! I just felt bad lang naman! Because I already know how it feels to be rejected by someone I really like!" I defended and kind a embarassed when I saw how our driver glanced at me through the mirror on the front. 

"Okay, okay. Calm down, Genieva. Hindi ko alam kung bitter ka ba or masiyadong defending," sabi ni Lexie at umiling-iling.

"We're here na. I'll left muna. Mamaya na lang ulit. Bye!" paalam ni Reine bago umalis sa video call. I looked outside the window and nandito na rin pala kami sa house. I waved my hand at Lexie and smiled.

"Nandito na rin ako sa bahay. Let's just call later, okay? Bye," paalam ko.

"Sige. Malapit-lapit na lang din naman kami, I think. Bye! Love you."

"I don't love you, bye!" tumawa naman siya bago ko ni-end ang call. I sighed and slid my phone inside my skirt's pocket.

I opened the door and stepped out of the car. My eyes widened a bit when I saw Dad outside the house, looking at me now like he's waiting for me.

"Dad. Why are you here outside?" I asked and kissed his cheeks with mine. 

He slid his hands on his pockets and smiled a bit.

"We will have a visitors later in the evening for a dinner. Prepare yourself, Genieva," he told me and patted my shoulder with his hand. My brows furrowed a bit and my head c****d on the other side.

"Who is it?"

"Just a business partner. I think he'll bring someone too. I just don't know who was it. I didn't ask for since everyone is welcome inside our house, anyway."

I nodded. "Sure. I'll prepare. Let's go inside na, Dad. I'll rest first."

He chuckled a bit. "You're tired of having troubles at school?" I frowned at him that made him laughed so hard. I playfully rolled my eyes at him before I marched inside our house.

When I reached my room, I looked around and sighed. My room's color is really making me sick.

I just ignored it and changed clothes before I threw myself on the bed and take a nap first. I must look not haggard in front of the visitors later. Tama ng napahiya ako kanina. That's really enough for me on this day.

"Ma'am Genieva," nagising ako sa mga katok sa pintuan ng kwarto ko. I opened my eyes and sat on the bed, rubbing my eyes with my hand. 

"Bakit po?" I asked politely and yawned. 

"Mag-handa na raw po kayo sabi ng Daddy niyo po," I sighed and stood up from the bed.

"Okay po."

"Sige po, Ma'am," aniya bago ko narinig ang papalayo niyang yabag sa labas ng kwarto.

I quickly took a shower and dressed myself up in a formal wear. A tight wine dress just above the knees. I also curled my hair that made me more matured and applied just a light make-up on my face before I sprayed perfume and put some jewelries on myself.

"Perfect," I whispered and smiled at the mirror before I walked downstairs. The visitors are still not here since I can't hear some conversation downstairs and in the dining area.

I saw my parents on the living room, just sitting prettily there.

Their gazes raised at me and their eyes widened a bit.

Mom and Dad raised from their seats to walk to me.

"You're so beautiful, Genieva.." Mom told me and smiled as her hands grazed on my curly hair.

"You looked gorgeous like your mother.." ani naman ni Dad na ikinatawa ko ng bahagya. 

"Of course, Daddy. Kanino pa ba ako magmamana?" I said and smiled at them. "Thank you, by the way."

"You're welcome. You deserved all the compliments you're receiving."

My smiled widened more. "Thank you so much," I said and hugged them both. 

"Ma'am, nandito na po sila," napatingin kami sa mayordoma ng pumasok ito sa loob ng bahay. Daddy fixed his suit and nodded at her. We walked near the entrance of the house to welcome the visitors.

I glanced at myself first on the mirror to see if I still look good and I am. I sighed before I looked outside that made my eyes just widened. 

"Mommy," I called her but she seemed like she didn't hear me at all. Instead, she walked towards the visitors and greeted them with Dad. I was about to ran away and just ditched the dinner but damn it! We already saw each other! His gaze remained at me for a minute but then looked away when Mommy talked to her.

"Where's Genieva? Genieva, come here," nilingon ako ni Mommy at nginitian ako. Hilaw akong pilit na ngumiti bago naglakad papalapit sa kanila. So he was Greige's Dad? Nakangiti ito sa akin.

"Uhm, hello po. Goodevening," I greeted and chuckled a bit to ease my nervousness and awkwardness since Greige's here. Bakit sa lahat pa ng magiging business partner ni Daddy ay 'yung Daddy pa talaga ni Greige?!

"Goodevening too, hija. You looked so gorgeous tonight," he said and glanced at his son right beside him who was just staring at me. I smiled a bit. "This is my son, hija. I hope you already know him since he was your classmate. Am I right?"

Tumango ako at tumingin sa kanya. "Yes po, uh.. He's Greige," I replied.

I looked at him and he looked dashing with his white-button down shirt and formal pants. Four buttons were opened that made him looked hotter in the evening. His hair was blow-dried and a bit messy but it does looked good at him!

I looked away when I noticed he's staring at me. Our parents talked for a few more things before we finally walked inside the house and to the dining room. 

Foods are served on the long dining table. Servers were just on the side and will wait if we need something as we were seated on the dining table.

We sat and had a few talk more before we started eating. Servers poured ice tea on our glasses. I glanced at the wine glass near me and wanted to drink them instead of this ice tea. I just stopped myself and decided to drink it later after this dinner. I am now eating but got distracted when I sensed someone is staring at me. I raised my gaze and caught Greige looking at me intently. But even though I already caught him, he didn't even look away from me. He stayed like that, staring at me as he eats his food.

I blinked twice and just looked down on my plate. His gaze was too intimidating to handle and making me a bit uneasy.

Oh god. What's happening right now?

I excused myself when we are already having our desserts. They served wine now. I took mine with me as I walked upstairs to the veranda, wanting to have some fresh air. I leaned my elbows on the railings and looked at the dark sky and on the moon. It does shine so bright tonight. I sighed and sipped on my wine. Cold breeze touches my skin. I rubbed my arms because I didn't know it's cold out here and my clothes a bit short tonight. 

"It's cold in here.." I jumped a bit in surprise when I heard a voice behind me. Papalingon na ako pero mainit na tela ang bumalot sa akin. I looked at it and it was a coat. Tumingin ako sa kanya at nakatingin lamang siya sa harap bago lumakad papunta sa tabi ko. He also leaned both of his elbows on the railings and sipped on his wine.

"How did you get in here?" I asked him. "You're not allowed here upstairs," I said and looked at him.

Greige glanced at me and sexily chuckled. My sinful eyes gazed down to his wet lips because of the wine he's drinking right now. I swallowed hard and looked away.

I gripped tightly on his coat because it is really cold out here. I didn't notice this coat a while ago. Meron pala siyang dalang coat.

"You just apologized to me after our class and yet you're being rude to me right now again," he said and looked at me. Greige slowly licked his lower lip which distracted me.

"You're just really not allowed here, Greige. I'm not being rude," I replied as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"But your Dad allowed me to be here. Upstairs."

"Si Dad lang. But for me, you're not allowed to be in here—" he rested his elbow on the railing and his cheeks on his fist as he just stared at me.

"You really looked gorgeous tonight. I already looked at you in every angle and yet, you still looked gorgeous, Genieva," Greige then smiled at me.

Natigilan ako at bahagyang nanlaki ang mga mata sa biglaan niyang pagsasalita.

My cheeks literally burned in—I think—shocked because of what he told me. 

I composed myself and raised a brow at him. My heart is now beating so fast. "You're just.. You're just saying that because you want me to allow you to be here. Don't fool me with your flowery words, Greige."

He chuckled and fixed his stance in front of me. He crossed his arms as well.

"Why would I still do that kung nandito na ako? I really meant thatz Genieva. I'm not joking nor fooling you. That doesn't make no sense," he defended and wiggled his brows at me.

Hindi ko rin siya maintindihan eh. Minsan seryoso siya minsan.. hays! Ewan ko.

"Okay, then. Thank you. Aalis na ako."

I was about to walk out of the veranda when he grabbed my wrist. I looked at him and raised a brow. 

"What?"

"Let's stay here for a few minutes more."
