The night was calm and quiet. Alexander lay on the bed with one arm tucked under his head, staring up at the ceiling. A soft scent of jasmine floated into the room as Anna walked in. She was wrapped in a silk robe, her damp hair falling gently over her shoulders. She slipped under the sheets beside him and lay on her side, facing away, saying nothing. Alexander’s eyes moved to her. He knew that kind of silence. It was not peaceful.
