10 The Migrant Hostel When the coach stopped at the airport doors where she’d last seen Firzun, Zahra felt sick. He was nowhere in sight now. The only person who got on the coach was Kathy, the immigration officer. Zahra saw her shake her head at the driver. She walked down the aisle and told Zahra that she had asked the police at the airport to keep a look out for him. If he was still missing by tomorrow evening, she would make an official report to the police. Unfortunately, they couldn’t wait for her husband any longer, Kathy added. They had to consider the other new arrivals. Zahra nodded mutely. ‘You must be exhausted,’ Kathy said. ‘Let’s get you to the hostel and sort out your room.’ She paused, looking slightly uncomfortable. ‘Zahra, tomorrow morning we will need to ask you more
