CHAPTER TWO

She woke up that early morning, with the rays of sunlight shining directly in her,I tossed around and touched the bed but Jason was gone,she wasn't suprised at all,he had things to do,meetings to attend, she sighed and wrapping herself with her bed sheet,made way into the bathroom, In 30mins she was done,her creamy skin was a little pale,which made her look even younger, she got dressed in a black velvet gown a little flowing at the back,a little makeup applied, she was gorgeous, she slipped her slender legs into a pair of silver shoes, As she made to leave ,she noticed the brocade of flowers on the table, A mixture of roses,dandelions and hibiscus flowers, they smelt so nice,laying back on the wall,she smiled to herself and then noticed the pink card in the flowers, she picked it up and read it"To my dearest Queen, I had a wonderful night and you are indeed a rare germ,I'm sorry I had to leave but I cant wait till day I did wake up and you did be beside me, Your heartthrob KING JASON" ,she smiled heartthrob, she kissed the card and keeping it in her safe, she left.As she walked through the hallway majestically, she came across with the Queen Amaya, she sighted her firstwanted to change course and then remembered an adage "A MAN WHO FLEEZ IS A MAN WHO IS GUILTY ""BUT A MAN WHO STAYS IS A MAN WITH A CLEAR HEART ".Her highness was being escorted by two of her maids,clair and lara and a guardjosh ,Nice morning Queen Amaya, she greeted and passed, "Princess Elizabeth, she tur, can you tell me what nice of the morning","I don't understand you Queen Amaya","Princess Elizabeth of Apricot, you don't hear of these rumours that says you are my husband's mistress, ","maybe you are wrong, besides they are just rumours, don't tell me you believesuch lies about tour husband besides the law of Aghastam states a king can have as many concubines as he pleases","I guess you are right ,I might be wrong,its only a rumor, I have no proof that you are having an affair with him","can I take my leave now, she said and began to exist,Amaya was still staring at her before she came out of her trance ,she was amazed by her beauty,she was a woman no man could resist, not at all surprised if her husband fell through Jason wasn't a man who looked at other women, so she wondered if the rumours was ture, she began to exit, Queen Elizabeth walked into the courtyard, sat on the beach,she thought about her encounter with the Queen. Has she right? Was she just a mistress? She loved him and he loved her too, she sighed, some maids offered her morning food but she rejected them and they returned it back,she had lost all appetite for food,she sat for a while when someone called her,Queen Elizabeth, the concil requests your presence,ok I'll be there you can go, she walked to the hall of fame which consisted of great rulers King's but not Queen's, she couldn't wait to be to be a Queen and prove them wrong, beside was a huge door, she opened it and enterd the hall of the great council of the seven kingdom, she sat at the right side of king Jason, the hall was huge and the middle was a great long table wih seven chairs surrounding it and on it chair stood its flag and symbol of its country hanging on its wall. Lord laguard stood at its end and watched them all . Silence has fallen when she entered the room, some of the men admired her beauty, some women marveled at her bravery, she sat down and Lord Laguard said let this meeting be called to an order." Crown princess Elizabeth you must be wandering why your presence is needed,well since the matter concerns you i thought you should be invited","is my honour my lord", "as you must know, the council has been discussing on letting you be the next ruler of Apricot and our decision is NO!", "no you can't be serious is my right, i know you are against of the opinion of women ruling the kingdom because of mislead"."Crown princess Elizabeth how can such a beautiful woman like you rule,its so much work, count Fredick said wih lustful eyes which made King Jason mad with anger,count Fredick mind the word you say ,king Jason outered but was stopped by Elizabeth who knew the implictions and meaning of what he wanted to say."Thanks Count Fredick for your concern but i can take care of myself, you don't have to worry but am sure you know that giving him a stern look,he adverted his gaze from her,As I was saying you think women cant rule for what reason, Duchess Maya ,Countess Calan who rule the state hasn't made any mess but yet it has improved, so why cant I be given a chance to prove you wrong,I mean its only fair, whispers and chatters grew loud across each table as they discussed only in murmurs, "we have reached a solution and we have decided for the first time in AGHASTAM, women should be goven a chance to rule a kingdom starting with you Princess " Her heart lit up with hope, "But! On one condition " lord Laguard added, Which is?"

"You must form an allegiance with any kingdom, in other words, you must choose a kingdom to form allegiance with and they were all riled by powerful kings, if you fail to rule with uttermost efficiency expected from you, you shall be henceforth seized to be the ruler of that kingdom, and it shall be handed to your allegiance"

"But since our great forefathers, kingdoms were known to be collected by wars and not by contract, its not an Aghastam rule" the princess said.

"And so is a woman ruling a kingdom too, if I can bend the law to favour you, why cant I bend it to favour everyone? And I'm sure the council is in support."

They all nodded, all except king Jason

"Your highness, lord Laguard asked. "Are you with us or against us?" He had no option than to agree, if he said no, then the rumours would be true and the council would seize supporting her.

"Yes I am with you."

She was shocked, "The council has decided that you have two weeks to comply, or you can henceforth seize to be the heir to the throne of Apricot, the choice is yours"

And one by one they exited, closing the huge door behind. Left inside was KING JASON and PRINCESS ELIZABETH. She made to leave but was stopped by the king who held her by the hand and dragged her to him.

" Im in no mood for this Jason" the princess said.

"What upsets my queen?"

"The fact you supported them"

"Oh!!"

He gave her valid reasons as to why he did that, and she understood.

" I have two weeks Jason, and for the first time I feel defeated."

"You are brave Eliza, and you will find a way" he said and making way to kuss her, she shofted back a little, some might come through the door"

" and if they do, they will never live to tell it" he said.

"Wow, I'm scared"

"Its just the extent I'm willing to go for you and after last night, we have not only become one body, but one soul, and you my dear, are the most precious, sweetest and rarest fruit ever created and I'm glad I stole the key to your heart"

"Really, I'm flattered, but I have other things to do than be flattered. I must take my leave your highness"

His grip on her waist tightened and she could feel his hardness. How naughty.

Bending close, she gave him a passionate kiss and entangled herself from his hold, leaving him in a callous, confused and miserable state. He could never fully understand her,no man could and he loved her for that.

As she walked to her chambers, her mind went to what the councils said. Was there really no other way, she can't lose her kingdom, no way. It was hers after all, she had to find an allegiance, she only had two weeks. BUT WHO? who could she trust with yhe safety of Apricot? An allegiance? She needed help, the least of her worries was Jason, but remembering the flowers and that night, the comforting words, she longed for him to be in her chambers, but it wasn't possible, he had to spend the night with his wife to avoid suspicions. She qished he was hers and hers alone.

She sighed, getting out of her gown into a blue night gown, packed her hair up and noticed the red rose on the ground. It must have fallen off while she was trying to keep it in her wardrobe. She picked it up, smelt it and smiled remembering the bouquet of flowers. It was indeed a wonderful surprise and she loved it.
