At 6 pm sharp, the doorbell rang. Alashia got up from her spot with the children, playing with legos on the floor, and went to the door. For the first time ever, Cami stayed on the couch, but she was looking up and wagging her tail. Bartholomew stood in the doorway, a duffel bag in hand, and smiled at her warmly. She smiled back, motioning him into her home, and he glanced around. The living room was painted in green and gray, one wall had the television mounted, and surrounding it was pictures of her and her family. All of the pictures had them smiling, laughing or being overall adorable. The wall across from the doorway was covered in art from her children, along with ceramic foot and hand prints of the boys.
