Chapter 9: The Legacy Born
Luna POV
Childbirth was nothing like the movies.
No calming background music. No deep, meditative breathing. Just chaos, pain, and fire licking through every nerve in my body. I was pretty sure I'd broken Zane's hand three times over by now.
"You're doing amazing, Luna. Just breathe," Ivy said beside me, her hands glowing with pale lavender light as she channeled magic to ease the pain.
"I am breathing!" I screamed. "Don't say that word again!"
Zane sat at my side, pale and panicked, a sheen of sweat dotting his brow. "You've got this, Moonlight. You're stronger than anyone I know."
A contraction tore through me and I let out a growl so loud Kane poked his head in through the door. "Everything alright in here or do I need to fight something?"
"You can fight the next person who tells me to breathe!"
Kane laughed. "That's our Luna."
But then, something shifted deep inside me. My fox stirred. My vampire side awakened with a thunderous pulse. My magic roared to life in full force, curling up my spine like a tidal wave of fire and shadows.
The baby was coming.

Zane POV
I've faced rogue wolves, battled for pack dominance, even looked Luna's terrifying vampire grandmother in the eye and survived.
None of that prepared me for watching Luna in labor.
She was screaming, glowing, shifting between power and pain with terrifying grace. And in the middle of it all, I realized something:
I was hopelessly, helplessly in love with her all over again.
And then-
A cry. Soft, wild, beautiful.
Our daughter.
Luna was sobbing, holding the tiny bundle close to her chest, and I knelt at her side, overwhelmed.
"She's perfect," she whispered, her eyes shimmering.
"She's you," I murmured. Our baby had Luna's fire-bright eyes and my silver-blonde hair. But more than that, she had an aura. Ancient. Powerful. Dangerous.
She was more than our child. She was something... more.
---
Elira POV
When I held my granddaughter for the first time, I wept.
Not out of sadness. Out of awe.
Her magic thrummed like a symphony of two ancient lineages. She was a child of prophecy. A force born not just of love, but of fate.
"She will be watched," I whispered to Alaric. "By more than us. By forces that don't forgive or forget."
He nodded, his jaw tight. "Let them watch. She belongs to us."

Ivy POV
Two weeks later, Kane and I stood under a moonlit arch where Luna and Zane had once said their vows.
My dress sparkled with magical thread, and Kane, looking awkwardly handsome, stood waiting for me with a look in his eyes that screamed forever.
"I can't believe you're marrying me," he whispered.
I grinned. "I can. I deserve a challenge."
He kissed me before the ceremony even started.
In the front row, Luna held baby Nina, who glowed softly under the moon. Zane sat beside them, his hand never leaving Luna's.
Kane and I promised ourselves to each other beneath the stars, in a bond not just of magic, but of choice.

Alaric POV
I stood watching my son and his family, and something in my chest cracked open.
It was time.
That night, I led Zane to the pack's sacred circle. The elders gathered. The wind stilled.
"I step down," I said. "I name Zane as Alpha. And Luna, his mate, as Luna of the Crescent Howl Pack."
Shock. Then silence. Then... acceptance.
He looked at me, stunned. "Are you sure?"
"I've never been more sure."
I placed the Crescent pendant over his head and turned to Luna.
"You were born to rule, child. With fire. With heart. And with honor."
The pack howled in unison.
And the bond shifted.

Luna POV
Everything had changed.
No longer a waitress. No longer alone. No longer hiding.
I was Luna of the pack. Zane's partner. A mother. A force.
But nothing could prepare me for what came next.
It started small. Nina lifted her head too early. Then she sat up. Stood. Crawled. Spoke. Lit flames with her hands.
Ivy ran her fingers over Nina's aura and frowned. "She's accelerating. Luna... she's shifting too fast."
Zane nodded grimly. "Today I felt foxfire. Yesterday vampire energy. She's cycling through her powers."
"She's not even six months," I whispered. "Why is this happening?"
Elira stepped forward, solemn. "The courts must know. Their archives hold secrets of old bloodlines. It's time to go back."
Back to the place I swore I'd never return.
Back to the vampires. To the foxes. To the throne I'd run from.
Zane took my hand. "We go together."
I looked at our child-glowing softly in the firelight.
My legacy. My heart.
"It's time," I said. "We go to my court
