HER TRUE LEGACY 1

Chapter 10: Her True Legacy The forest was quiet, unnaturally so, as Luna stood at the edge of the old border—where Crescent Howl territory ended and the land of her forgotten blood began. Zane was beside her, their daughter bundled in her arms. Nina blinked up at the towering trees with an awareness no child her age should possess. Her eyes shimmered—sometimes fox-gold, sometimes blood-red, sometimes glowing silver. "It feels like she knows where we’re going," Zane murmured, glancing down at their daughter. Luna nodded slowly. "Maybe she does." The wind stirred as if the land itself recognized its long-lost heir. Luna’s pulse quickened, a memory rising from the depths of her forgotten childhood—the shimmer of crystal towers, the scent of ancient roses, the whisper of shadows in a cold moonlit hall. This was where it all began. --- They rode in silence, flanked by Kane and Ivy, who had insisted on coming despite the potential danger. Ivy’s magic flared with unease, the air thick with tension. “You’re both too calm,” Ivy muttered, brushing glowing fingers across her protective charms. “We’re walking into the courts that once tried to control you, Luna. They won’t hand over answers willingly." “I don’t expect them to,” Luna said, voice firm. “But I won’t let them use my daughter as a pawn in their games.” Zane tightened his grip on the reins. “They won’t. Not while I breathe.” --- As dusk settled, the gates of the vampire court emerged from the mists, black stone carved with ancient runes. Guards moved, shadows flowing like living ink. But when they saw Luna, they froze. Eyes widened. Knees bowed. "She returns," one whispered. "The blood of the first flame." Inside, the court loomed tall and cold. Luna’s mother’s portrait still hung in the main hall—her twin, ethereal face frozen in regal stillness. Elder Caelen appeared, ageless and cruel-eyed, his tone syrupy. “Princess Luna... the girl who ran. And now the mother of her.” He glanced at Nina, and something flickered in his gaze—fear? Hunger? “What is she?” Luna demanded, cutting to the chase. Caelen didn’t flinch. “A convergence. A prophecy. A danger.” “Explain.” “You must go to the Fox Temple. Only the flames will show the truth.” Zane stepped forward, protective fury in every line of his body. “We didn’t come for riddles. Speak plainly.” Caelen only smiled. “The girl is older than you know. She is not the end... she is the beginning.” --- Later, when they left the court under heavy silence, Luna held Nina close, heart pounding. “I don’t know what that means,” she whispered to Zane. He pulled her against him. “Whatever she is, we’ll face it together.” Above them, the moon bled red. And Nina laughed. A sound too clear, too knowing, too old for her tiny form. --- To be continued in Season 2: Her True Legacy — Coming soon... Writer's POV Who—or what—is Nina? Why is her power growing so fast?
