Chapter 10

Elizabeth/Lizzie/Liz – POV

Sarah and I are walking down the hallway when Gracie fly’s out of her office and up the stairs. I look at Sarah and she goes after Gracie. I head to her office, just as I hear Charlie call Max a Douche Canoe. Where she gets this stuff is beyond me. I stop in the doorway and look at Max, “I think we have had enough excitement, don’t you?  I am quite hungry, so if this is over let’s eat.”  As I turn and walk our I know Charlie is behind me. “Really you had to tell him?”

“What would you like to have said? How would you have explained it?” She says in a hushed tone.

“Goddess I don’t know? Let’s just get thru dinner and then up to Gracie’s safe room. You grab the Everclear on the way up. And we are cutting this down to one course!”  I say as we enter the room. I see that Travis has yet to move and is already eating his steak with Kyle’s parents. “I do apologize for all the interruptions.”  Charlie and I sit down, and the lead Omega bring us our food.

Max and Kyle walk in a few minutes later, Max looks like he is going to be sick. And stands at the door while Kyle takes his seat. “I apologize, but I am not feeling well.  I think I will just retire for the evening.” Max says as he walks to the stairs.

I stand and link Mary the house Omega, “Mary can you please show the King to his room. I do hope you feel better.”

Max steps forward, “I will feel better if you would bring her to me.” He says to me with a sad smile.

“Is that an order?” I stand and look at him with a blank expression. Praying to the Goddess it’s not.

“It is not, but I will expect to see her tomorrow.” He says as he walks toward the stairs and follows Mary.

I blink twice and turn to Charlie, “Well, this is a fine mess.” At that moment Kyle starts laughing out loud. His parents looking at him like he has lost his mind. “What is so funny.”

“I thought we were going to be the biggest issue.” He says still laughing, he stops a bit and looks at me, “Why do you think he is her Mate?”

I continue to look at him when Charlie, speaks up. “It’s not just us that think he is her Mate.” I turn to look at her and her head is down looking at her hands as she has tears in her eyes. I then look at Kyle and then his parents. They were just finishing dinner and if sensing they stand up.

“Thank you for your hospitality, but it is getting late and we need to get home.” Kyle’s father says as he goes to walk for the door with his wife in tow. Kyle stands and follows his parents and I do the same.

“Thank you for coming and please know you are always welcome.” I say to his parents and turn to leave so Kyle can have time alone with them. As I walk back into the dining room Travis is now sitting down next to Charlie. I stand at the entrance with my arms crossed. “Charlie? You want to let us in on what you know?”

Travis stands, “Alpha Liz, it is not Charlie’s fault. King Edmond sent her, he had a sense of who Laura Grace was and since Charlie was in morning over the Mate she lost he sent her here. She was just to find out if Laura Grace knew she was his Mate.” Travis looks at her with love and adoration.

“And now you are her Mate?” I ask Travis with still standing as Kyle walks in behind me.

“Oh, Fu@k now what?” He says standing next to me.

“I had no idea when I took the job from the King why he didn’t send Charlie first. That Alpha had to be taken out, he was as sick at Alpha Noah.” He says with his head down.

And it hits me, “You killed her Mate only to come back and find out you are her second chance Mate?” I say covering my mouth. Charlie is sitting behind Travis with her head down.

“Oh Sh!t, man!” Kyle is as shocked as I am. “And you said nothing to anyone?”

Travis looked up and looked at Kyle right in the eyes. “No one was supposed to know where she was, and King Edmond said it would just be until she is done with the pain of losing her Mate. He sent her a message to come back 6 months ago but she never responded!” Travis says with hurt in his eyes.

“Did you know Charlie? Did you know Travis was your second Mate?” I start walking to her and crouch down next to her.

“Yes.” She says with tears streaming down her face. “That is why I wanted to go stay at Lances, but then Laura Grace finally admitted her feelings for Max, and I had to stay. He was never going to believe her if I wasn’t here. I was sent yes, but you all got me thru the grief and pain and then I remembered Travis and I didn’t know if I deserved a second mate as good as he is.”  She said now looking at Travis.

He kneels on the other side of her cups her face and kisses her. As she wraps her arms around him I know they are the only two that will get out of this whole weekend good. “Charlie, show Travis to his room.”

“What about the Everclear?” She stops kissing him and looks at me.

“That’s up to you. Honestly guys, I have lost my appetite. And I need to check on Gracie.” I say looking at Kyle. As he puts his head down and nods. “Mary is here if you need anything and will show you to your room.”

Charlie stands and comes to me, “Let’s go check on our girl. Sorry Travis.” She goes to the liquor cabinet pulls out 3 bottle of Everclear and takes one to Kyle. “You guys need one?”

“Why do you get 2 and we get one?” Kyle asks with a soft smile.

“You don’t know Sarah, girl is hardcore!” Charlie says as she turns to Travis, “We good?”

Travis smiles, “We are fabulous.”

Charlie and I head up the stairs as I say to her, “Oh, I can’t wait for you to tell all this to Gracie!”

Charlie swallows hard, “Do you think she will forgive, me?”

I look stop on the stairs and look at her, “She already has. You defended her and stood up for her over your family. You put her above your own family!”

“That is where you are wrong.  LG, Sarah, and you; you’re my family.” She said as the tears threatened a reappearance.

I smiled at her and we started walking the rest of the way to Gracie’s room arm in arm. We opened the door and saw the closet open, “Safe Room!” We said at the same time. Gracie thinks the closet office is a secret, but we knew about it from the beginning, I mean we are werewolves, did she really think we wouldn’t hear anything. Although this room is soundproof. And who needs that much tech for a closet unless your hiding something.

We get to the door and there is a fingerprint pad, laughing I stuck my thumb on it thinking no way in Hell.  When the door swung open, I dropped my jaw to the floor! I walk in and it is like walking into her downstairs office, perfect replica. “When did you steal my thumbprint?”

Sarah looks at me deadpan, “All the Sh!t that just went down and you lead with a thumbprint?” They are sitting on a couch with they have moved to, so it faces the TV. It has every room in the house on it in separate boxes. That’s when the Everclear almost hits the floor.

Gracie catches it before it hits the ground. “You heard it all?” Charlie says wide eyed and shocked. Sarah and Gracie both nods. Charlie covers her face and starts crying again. “I am so sorry!” Charlie can barely get it out. We all gather around her.

Gracie grabs her face, “There is nothing to apologize for. Oh, I love you so much, you are truly my sister, I felt it tonight. Everything you did. You stood up to your family. You were supposed to go back 6 months ago, but you chose to stay, here didn’t you?”

“I can’t go back. I can’t leave you all. I must atone for all I have done. And I love you all too much.” She said looking us each in the eye.

It’s my turn to ask the hard question, “What about Travis?”

“I don’t know, I want him, but why do I have to give you all up? Why can’t he give up Max?” She says in a questioning tone.

“I think that is something you both are going to have to work out.” I say to her. “But for now, who needs a drink?” 

They all say “I do.”

“Wait what are those glasses on the table?” I ask, looking at Sarah and Gracie.

“Starters?” Sarah says.

“What? I have a stash. You go 8 months knowing your Mate doesn’t know you exist!” Grace says a matter of factly.

I shake my head, “Woman! You are one complicated She-wolf!” I say giggling that turns into a smirk. “So, uh, quick question, is there a camera in every room?”
