Chapter Nineteen
Bee wrung her hands together as she waited for the summons to enter her aunt’s private drawing room. This was not going to be easy, and she really didn’t want to do this, but she knew it was the right thing to do. It was something she had to do.
“Come in!” her aunt’s voice called.
Bee did so but kept her eyes lowered even as she curtsied. “I was wondering if I could have a word, my lady.”
“Which one are you?” her aunt’s tone wasn’t particularly kind, but Bee didn’t blame her.
“Bee, my lady. I… I’ve put on my bracelet.” She held up her wrist. She had on a thin gold chain with a small gold bee dangling from it.
“Let me see,” her aunt said, holding out her hand.
