Chapter Twenty-Four Bee’s eyes widened as she realized she’d given herself away. Her stomach began to churn from the anger in the lady’s eyes. She turned back to Lord St. Vincent and was somewhat mollified. He was looking at her with undisguised admiration, which immediately thawed the ice that could have been coating her skin from the look her aunt was giving her. On the one hand, she’d earned respect from the gentleman she most wanted to impress; on the other, she was now in serious trouble. “Would you care to dance, Miss Kendrick,” Lord St. Vincent asked. “Thank you, my lord, I would enjoy that a great deal,” she said, smiling up at him and trying to hold back the relief washing through her.
