Chapter 2: Running

While Kenneth is gone at one of his training sessions, Paige fastens Mikinzie into her carseat and covers her up with a blanket making sure to secure the blanket around her precious pup, then opens the front door and shifts into her wolf form and picks up Mikinzie in her carseat and makes a run out the door as fast as she can before Kenneth returns home.
As she's running in the forest, she hears something in the bushes so she runs even faster. She makes it through the forest without any interruptions, next she has to pass through villages that belong to her pack. She's nearing the Pack House and she makes a left turn going around the Pack House to avoid being caught by Kenneth.
Once she's out of sight of the Pack House, she stops to hand her pup a bottle, then continues running with Mikinzie in her muzzle again. as she's nearing the end of the pack territory she stops.
"I, Paige Triten, denounce my membership to the pack and henceforth become a rogue until I find a new pack to call my own and/or find my mate."
She steps over the territory border and she feels the pack connection break. This means she no longer belongs to that pack, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have to stop running. She continues to run until she sees a village. She hears voices shouting at her to come home. She turns and sees him: Kenneth Longhorn. The man who abused her since the day she moved in with him.
"No." Paige yells. She already shifted back into human form carrying her now sleeping child in her carseat.
"Please. We can talk about this." Kenneth Shouts as he walks closer.
Paige ignores him and his Guards and makes a run for the village. she looks back only to see Kenneth and his guards run away.
"Finally, we're safe" She says to her sleeping pup.
They enter a small diner and Paige sits Mikinzie down on the seat next to her as a young waitress comes over to the table.
"Would you like to order now or do you need a few minutes?" The waitress asks.
"I'll take 4 grilled chicken breasts, and one grilled chicken kids meal with a white milk. And I'll have 2 large chocolate milkshakes please." Paige mumbles.
"Okay I'll go get that for you. Are you okay?" The waitress asks not trying to be rude.
"Yeah, we're fine. We've been running for what seems like forever. We're running from the Galeburg Alpha. He's abused me since I moved in with him and I regret moving in with him. Then he started abusing my precious pup and I knew we had to get out of there before it progressed to anything worse." Paige motions to her precious sleeping pup as she explains.
"Let me go get this this order in for you and I'll go get our Alpha and we'll get this handled legally. My name is Kryssie by the way." Kryssie says then she walks off to the kitchen.
10 minutes pass by and Kryssie walks over with a tall handsome man with medium reddish orange hair and blue eyes.
He walks over to her and Kryssie says "Vincent, this is the girl and the baby I was telling you about."
He sniffs the air as Paige stands up "Mate." He says as she pulls her into his grasp.
"uhm, I'm uh confused. What's going on here exactly? and what do you mean 'mate'?" I ask nervously.
Vincent looks at me. "Follow me and I will explain everything."
