"Hey, Licht! Wanna join us? We're going to--" Before Jared could even finish he was cut off.
"Shush!" It was Joana who shushed him. Joana was one of the people who did try to talk to me but was ignored. She still probably has a grudge against me. Women often do that.
I could hear murmurs and whispers among them. Although I did mind, I would not be able to do anything because all the stuff they'll say is most probably true. I never defended myself anyway, so this is normal for me now.
"Hey, that's Licht!"
"Yeah, the one who never hangs out with anyone."
"He's just gonna say no, why do you even bother?"
"He always rejects my invitations before, just give up."
"But--"
Jared tried to defend me but to no avail, he was cut off again. We all heard a slam and when everyone looked where it came from, it was Miss Straight-A Delilah. We, I mean, they call her that since she's always been at the top and still could afford to troll around students and teachers. You get it, she's popular.
"Yeah, Licht is gonna be busy. We already had something to do today. Right, Licht?" She turned her head to me and smiled reassuringly. All I could do was nod my head, smile back and head to her side.
Because at that moment I knew, this year was going to be different and maybe, even better.
