I stood staring at my mate again in silence. I didn't know what to say or how to act around her. She wasn't the first mate I had ever been blessed with by the moon goddess yet it all felt new.
I was upset with Ian a few minutes ago because of how he wanted to make her uncomfortable. If I was to stay and entertain his crap he would have targeted her even more. But then he was who I ought to thank, because of him I couldn't just let my mate see me as some guy who couldn't defend or try to comfort her.
"I'm so sorry," I said softly then cleared my throat and sat down on the table grabbing my fork.
"Ian may be cold at times and very rude, but that doesn't mean he is a bad person." I said without looking at her.
I was about to eat when I heard her sniff.
