Hazel pov The car ride home was completely quiet. Leo kept his hands tight on the steering wheel. His knuckles were white. I sat in the passenger seat and stared out the window. The trees and houses blurred past us. My chest moved up and down fast. The fight was over, but my blood still pumped hard. My hands throbbed with a dull, heavy ache. I rubbed my right fist with my left thumb. The skin was red and raw. Some spots were already turning purple. Leo pulled into our driveway. The tires crunched on the gravel. He turned off the engine.
