Hazel pov The nurse was still waiting. Her tablet was in her hand and she was looking at me with that patient, professional look that nurses have when they have asked the same question a hundred times that day. "I'm okay," I said. My throat was dry. The words came out rough. "Can I have some water?" She put the tablet down on the small table beside the bed and poured water from a jug into a plastic cup. She helped me sit up a little and handed it to me. I drank it slow. My mouth had been dry for a long time. The water helped. I gave the cup back. I lay against the pillow and looked at the ceiling for a second. Then I turned to her. "How did I get here?" I asked. "A family member brought you in," she said. She was checking something on her tablet. "You had a significant asthma episode
