Ethan worked distractedly.
His mind had wandered during his meeting. He could barely function. He continued to try to work, but soon, just laid on his couch to try to rest. Between the incident with Vicki, and all the entertainment, he had not slept much in the last couple of nights.
He fell asleep almost immediately.
He dreamt that a woman was taking him into her mouth, flicking her tongue against him. He groaned, his hand flying to her head, as she hollowed her cheeks. He fisted her hair and pushed her down on him until he hit the back of her throat. She made a gagging sound.
This got his attention. The gagging sound was so loud, he started waking up. He noticed a couple of things all at once. His hand really was fisted in someone’s hair. That someone did actually have her mouth upon his aching member.
Once this had registered in his brain, he jerked the woman’s head from him, then he groaned out loud in frustration.
It was Suzy. She had tears in her eyes from him pulling her hair.
“How the HELL did you get in here?” Ethan roared at her.
“Baby,” she whined, “I wanted to surprise you. Last night was so much fun, that I knew that you would LOVE a surprise Blow Job.” Then she licked her lips. “What should we do for dinner, Darling?”
Ethan shoved her away from him, adjusting himself back into his slacks. “Are you deaf or just stupid?”
Suzy looked up at him confused.
He continued, “Let me make myself clear. There is no we! You are a good lay. Last night was fun, but that is all there is. If I wanted there to be more, I would have said something. Do not approach me unless it is work related. Do I make myself clear?”
Suzy, still on the floor, crawled over to him. She rubbed one of his thighs, gliding her hand toward his c**k, “You don’t mean that, baby. I just want to take care of you. You know you want to,” She said that as her other hand swiftly unbuttoned her blouse and revealed her plump breasts in a black, lacy bra.
Ethan grabbed her wrist away from him, “Cover up!” Slowly, with a pouty look, she did as she was told. Once she was done, he ordered, “Up!” She stood. Ethan walked up to her and glared down into her face. “If you EVER pull this s**t again, you will be out in the street. I never say anything that I don’t mean. Just to make sure that there is no misunderstanding, I will state it again, DO NOT approach me unless it is work related. DO NOT tell anyone of what occurred last night. Make sure that you dress per the handbook requirements. If you fail at ANY of these requirements, you will be terminated immediately! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?” Ethan roared the last part.
Suzy gave a fake cry. When he did not respond, she said, “I understand, if you change your mind, I will be here. I know that you will just CRAVE me now that you have had a taste.”
Ethan gave her a disgusted nod, “yeah, sure. Now get back to work.” He turned away from her, angrily. After she had gone, he called his temporary assistant, Richard into his office.
“You requested my presence, sir?”
“Did you allow that woman that was just in here, into my office?”
“I’m terribly sorry sir, but I did not see her until she left your office. She must have entered, when I used the rest room.” Richard apologized.
“Richard, make sure that no one enters my office unless they have an appointment, AND I have called them in. If anyone sneaks by you, there will not be another chance. If you need to leave for any reason, just lock the outer office. I really don’t wish to be disturbed unless necessary.”
Looking confused, Richard replies, “Of course sir. Is there anything that I should be aware of?”
“Nothing for your to be concerned about, but THAT woman that just left should never be allowed in, without my invitation.”
He nodded, “Yes, sir.”
“Thank you, Richard. That will be all”
Ethan watches as Richard nods at him and exits the office.
For the rest of the morning, Ethan struggles to work. While, periodically, Richard enters the office and has him sign something, delivers files to him, and even explains what meetings he moved, and when he moved them to.
Ethan sits there for a while thinking. Richard was doing a good job.
In fact, he was doing a great job.
It was almost as if Richard was his normal, regular assistant.
Ethan grew suspicious, how was he picking up the job so well only on his second day.
Something was going on.
He decided to call Richard back into his office. “Have a seat.” Ethan motions. When He was seated, Ethan began, “Richard, I wanted to commend you. You are doing extremely well, especially for it only being your second day.”
Richard blushes, “Thank you, sir…I…”
Ethan continued, “In fact, you are doing so well, it is almost like you have always been my assistant. Clearly, you have been underutilized. Once your time here is done, we should see about getting a promotion. But until then, I feel that you receive a bonus.
Richard freezes, “Sir, that would be wonderful. However, sir, I could not accept either.”
Ethan quirks an eyebrow, “Why not? For all the work you have done, you deserve it.”
“Sir!” Richard exclaims. “While I have been doing most of the work, I have been getting some advice, and a bit of help.”
Ethan’s brows furrow, “From who?”
“Well…” He stuttered, “Ms. White. She has been assisting me.”
“How?” Ethan grits out.
“She… calls me hourly, to make sure that I am able to do everything okay. If there is a need, she has me email it to her. Once she handles it, she sends it back to me. If I have questions, she answers me. If I am unsure of what I have done, she reviews it for me.” Richard explains and hangs his head.
Ethan groaned out loud, before exploding, “Hell! This is so like her. In pain, in the hospital, and she is still working. What am I going to do with her? How is she supposed to heal, if she is working all the f*****g time!” Ethan is furious. How in the world did this happen? She is supposed to be healing, resting, not working.
Richard looked back up, alarmed, “Ms. White is in the hospital? What happened? Will she be alright?”
Ethan looked at him in surprise. In Richard’s eyes, he sees worry, concern, and something else, something that is soft, warm, and caring. Ethan snaps, “She will be fine.” Taking a deep breath, he continues, “If she wishes to let you or anyone else know of her circumstances, she will. You will not, and I repeat, NOT pester her about it. Am I understood?”
Richard’s eyes widen. “Of course, sir. I would never pressure Ms. White to do or say anything. I understand that she has always been a quiet person. She only rarely shares anything personal with anyone.”
Ethan’s brows rose. He sounds like he knows her very well.
How well does he know her?
Is he dating her?
Ethan mentally shakes himself. “I’m glad that you understand. Also, do not mention any of this to her. I will handle it. You may leave.”
Alone in his office, Ethan almost physically threw himself back into work. He would deal with Vicki later, right now he needed to prepare for a few meetings.
And with that, he was able to force himself focus on what needed to be done. After he had reviewed all of the notes for his meetings, his phone rang. It was the doorman for his condo. A woman, whose names is Alessandra wanted to speak to him. He paused, heard her voice in the background. So SN’s name was Alessandra, he sighed. What should he do? He really didn’t want anything else to do with her. He was so stressed. He paused, he could destress tonight, using her body. That might actually work for him. He informed the doorman to tell her to return this evening at 9 o’clock. He had the best idea of what to do with her.
Hours later, He was done with his meetings and ready for a break. He had just finished a dinner meeting. He still had a few hours before meeting SN…Alessandra. Time to deal with his stubborn assistant.
He was walking up to the door of the hospital when he saw a man leave. A man that kind of looked like Richard, but he was too far away to know for sure. Besides, what would Richard be doing here, visiting Vicki? They may work together at times, but Ethan doubted that she knew anyone at the office well enough to visit her in the hospital. He shrugged off the thought. It was probably someone else, someone that just resembled Richard.
As he entered Vicki’s room, he saw that she had just finished dinner. Ethan saw that she seemed to be in better spirits than this morning. Then a new scent invaded his nose. Roses. He glanced around the room, to see a delicate looking vase, filled with rainbow-colored roses. A dozen of them. Anger and guilt rose in him. Who gave them to her? Why did I not think of giving her any?
Getting Vicki’s attention, he tried to say casually, “Nice flowers. Who are they from?”
“Richard, from the office. He just left. Someone must have told him that I was in here. It was so nice of him,” she smiled.
“Yeah. Nice,” Ethan grunted, annoyed. “So, how was your day? Did your rest enough?” He inquired innocently.
“Umm…Yeah. I rested.” She hesitated.
“Really?” Ethan raised his eyebrows. “I’m glad to hear it. I was concerned that you had not had enough time to rest, as you had done so much WORK with Richard,” He emphasized the word WORK.
She blushed, “I…I…” She stops and looks down, her cheeks turning crimson.
“Yes?” His tone turned icy.
She started slightly. “Mr. Wright, I…I was bored and needed something to do. Also, I have the office, just way I want it and I do not want any of my systems messed with. If that means that I am on the phone or computer here and there, then so be it!” Her voice grew louder and more confident as she spoke, showing her conviction.
Ethan stood silently, looking thoughtful. “As your boss, I appreciate your work ethic. But I cannot allow you to continue. You need to recuperate,” He insisted. Then his voice softened, “And my name is Ethan, unless I am in a meeting.”
Vicki sighed, “Ethan, I enjoy my work. I am uncomfortable being idle. It gives me too much time to think. I end up thinking about……things that I do not want to think about. Besides, I take pride in my job, and I do not want to have to fix everything when I get back.”
“Fine, but if I think that you are doing too much, I will put a stop to it.” Ethan sat down next to her. “Did the therapist stop by today?”
She visibly cringed, “Yes, she was okay. I just don’t know if it will really help anything. I just…really do not like talking about some…..Things. I prefer to move and keep busy.” She admitted sheepishly.
Ethan took her hand gently. “Vicki, that is not healthy. That is not dealing with the problem, that is avoidance. And from what I know about similar things, it generally makes things worse in the long run.”
Vicki nodded, “That’s what the Dr. said. Like I told him, I will try.”
They sat there in silence for what felt like a long time. His large, warm hand still holding her smaller chilled one. Their eyes transfixed on the others, seemingly lost.
They jumped, and Ethan dropped her hand as if it burned him, when the door suddenly opened. Margaret bustled into the room carrying a large insulated bag.
“Good evening Ms. Vicki, Mr. Ethan. How is our patient today?” She inquired looking at Ethan,
Ethan grinned evilly, “Stubborn, Maggie. She was working from her sick bed.” He grabbed the bag from her hands.
Vicki glared at Ethan until she saw Margaret looking at her with fury in her eyes. “What?!” She exclaimed, “You jeopardized your health for work? Do have no self-preservation? Do not want to get out of here? That is irresponsible!” Her voice rose until she was yelling by the end and her hands were on her hips.
Vicki’s eyes, fell to her hands that rested in her lap, as they filled with tears.
The door opened and a familiar, masculine voice said, “Please refrain from yelling at my patient. She is not in any condition for another interrogation today.”
Vicki jerked her head up to see Dr. Blake entering the room with a frown on his face. She smiled in gratitude at him. Ethan sighed in frustration as he looked at the doctor and crossed his arms over his chest.
Margaret turned her fury on him. “Then she shouldn’t be doing things that will hinder her recovery!” She insisted, hotly.
Dr. Blake raise his hand, “Ma’am, please calm down. I can assure you that Vicki is perfectly fine. She has rested adequately today. While I wish she would have rested more, I am aware of her activities for the day, her and have discussed them with her, at length.” He paused to look at Vicki, and then Ethan before continuing, “I am also completely sure that Mr. Wright here has also expressed his displeasure at her reluctance to rest. So, while I perfectly understand your being upset with her about it, she has been reproached enough about it. She will not change behavior, especially if we challenge her, the best we can do is encourage her and try to get her rest more.”
Margaret slowly dropped her arms and looked at Dr. Blake curiously, “You seem to know Ms. Vicki very well for someone that met her just over a day ago.”
Dr. Blake blushed a bright fire-engine red, “Well….well, we have had a few talks, and I can just tell from them about her personality.” Ethan tensed up hearing this.
Margaret stood there for another moment, before replying, “You are definitely correct about her, Doctor. I am Margaret, Mr. Wright’s housekeeper. I have known Ms. Vicki for a while now, and it is as you say.” She extended her hand toward him.
“Good to meet you, Margaret. I am Dr. Blake Rosenburg,” He said shaking her hand warmly.
“Maggie,” she stated firmly. “Call me Maggie.”
“Beautiful name for a beautiful woman,” Blake replied, smiling kindly at her.
Maggie blushed hotly, before replying, “Thank you, Dr. Rosenburg.”
“I absolutely insist that you call me Blake, or Dr. Blake.”
She stammered, “Of course, Dr. Blake.”
Vicki sat there watching their exchange. She had never seen Maggie blush at all, let alone this deeply. It amused her so much that she had a bright smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye, when Everyone turned to her again.
Dr. Blake smiled at Vicki and winked at her. She blushed before ducking her head down. Maggie and Ethan observed her reaction, one with curiosity, the other with jealousy before Vicki looked at Maggie and asked, “What did you bring this time?”
Maggie busied herself with taking containers of food, plates, cups and utensils out of her bag. “I made one of your favorites, Ms. Vicki. Chicken Cacciatore, roasted vegetables, spinach and ricotta gnocchi, bok choy, and homemade bread.”
Vicki moaned as Maggie started opening the containers and the delicious smells began wafting throughout the room. “You are a goddess, Maggie. No one makes better food than you!” Vicki exclaimed excitedly.
Maggie shushed her, “You’ll give me a big head with all of your flattery.”
Blake laughed watching them, “If it tastes half as good as it smells, you should open your own restaurant, you could make a bundle!”
Maggie just laughed, waving his statement away, “I make more than enough from Mr. Ethan. Plus I love to cook, if I opened a restaurant, I might lose that love.”
Blake acquiesces with a nod of his head, “Well, I’m glad that you enjoy it so much. I’ll let you get back to your dinner. I just wanted to check in with my FAVORITE patient,” he said with a wink at Vicki, who blushed prettily as she bid him goodbye.
Ethan glowered at Blake until he left the room.
After all the excitement, dinner was much quieter. The three of them chatted about inconsequential things, though Ethan kept eying Vicki curiously, then looking down at his plate with a deep frown.
As they finished eating, Maggie say Vicki beginning to yawn. “My word, we have been here for quite a while. We will leave you to get some rest, Ms. Vicki. Shall I stop by tomorrow?” She inquired, looking between Vicki and Ethan.
Vicki looked down at her hands, “That’s not necessary, Maggie. I’ll be just fine.”
Silently, Ethan shook his head at Maggie letting her know to leave it for now. And with that, they took their leave from her. Ethan headed to his apartment, and Maggie to the house.
