Chapter 4 - Sealed with a Kiss The heavy oak door to the Alpha’s quarters closed behind her with a solid click, silencing the hostile chill of the hallway. Kaelen didn’t release her yet, the potent heat of his hand on her waist holding her in place against his muscled frame as he pulled her back toward the center of the ornately decorated room. Elena’s heart hammered in her chest with a wild tempo-not in fear of Chloe now, but of the sheer magnitude of the man who stood over her. The room reeked of rain, mint, and cedarwood, its overwhelming presence almost making her head swim. Kaelen, she whispered, the sound fragile in comparison to his size as she craned her neck to look into his face. You didn’t have to threatened them like that. Banishment-it would destroy her family. A predator’s glint sparked in Kaelen’s amber eyes. He emitted a deep, growl that rumbled deep in his chest. They laid their hands on you Elena. They put their hands on my mate. On my Luna. By the laws of the wild I should have torn her throat out for touching what was mine. Elena gulped, her eyes widening slightly at the fierce, primal protectiveness in his voice. But I am not like them, she confessed, the horrible truth spilled from her lips at long last. The weight of a lifetime of ostracization bearing down on her. I don’t shift. I do not have a wolf to back you up. I am… nothing more than their human servant. I can’t be Luna of the greatest pack in the north. Kaelen said nothing. Instead, he took another predatory step forward, forcing her backwards. And another. He stalked toward her until the back of her knees bumped against the cold, unyielding surface of the heavy oak desk at the wall. Caught. She was pinned between the hard wood and the inferno that was Kaelen. Before she could protest he slammed his large, scarred hands on the desk, one on each side of her hips and held her immobile. He leaned down until the scar etched jaw line was inches from hers and hot air from his lungs caressed her lips “Listen to me little wolf,” Kaelen growled in a deep husky whisper that sent an electric spark down her spine. “My wolf chose you not for title, not for a shift, not for the approval of pack. He chose you because your soul belongs to mine. I do not need a warrior by my side. I need you.” Elena gasp her breath catching in her throat. His gaze suffocated, burned away every last insecurity. Her hands went up his chest grabbing onto the dark fabric of his shirt when the mate bond flared sparking into a life of its own, sending her entire body to thrumming with a need she refused to name. “Kaelen…” she choked, parting her lips to meet his burning, gold eyes and dizzy from the heat that radiates off them. “You are my Luna, Elena,” Kaelen murmured, his gaze lowering to her parted lips where his eyes dilate with a hungry animal that made her skin crawl in anticipation. “And it is time that I showed you how much power you have over me.” Without pause Kaelen closed the gap and his mouth was on hers in a burning, searing kiss. Elena let out a small choked sob against his mouth as her eyelids flutter closed. The world outside no longer existed. It was deep, rough and possessive. A hungry claiming of his prize Kaelen left the desk and’ s finger’s twisted through her hair tiltin her head back more as his other arm wrapped around her waist bringing her up into the hard plane of his body. A low whine fell from her lips, but she didn’t pull away. The fire burning deep beneath her skin burst into a raging fire and she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer into the heady, intoxicated taste of rain and mint. The spark ignited and burst into a blazing fire and everything that was fear, doubt and the lonely ghost of her old existence went up in flame. When Kaelen pulled away breathing he was panting and their foreheads rested against one another his amber eyes gleamed deep gold satisfied, burning onto her own flushed, dazed face. Elena sank against him lightheaded, weak in the knees, her fingers still digging into the back of his neck for support. It was intoxicating but as weak and dizzy as she was, she no longer felt powerless. Kaelen smiled that rare and lethally intoxicating smile his thumb stroking the edge of her lips, “See?” he whispered husky and filled with adoration. “They fear the Alpha. But the Alpha belongs to you.”
