My call to the police threw the office into complete turmoil.

Hunter's face turned purple with rage.

"How dare you!" he shouted. "You've got a lot of nerve! Do you think you own this hospital?"

Aiden covered his slapped face and snapped at me like a maniac.

"Lunatic! Victoria, you are a complete and utter lunatic! You've ruined my business! Don't even dream of marrying into the Knight family!"

I didn't even spare him a glance.

Seeing that I wouldn't back down, Noah became even more furious.

Aria quietly leaned over and whispered something in his ear.

Noah immediately pulled out his phone and opened the livestream feature on a social media app.

"Folks, look at this heartless hospital!" he announced. "A corrupt doctor swapped out the medication and is playing with people's lives, and now she's acting like a thug right here!"

In this internet age, medical disputes and doctor-patient conflicts were the ultimate hot-button issues. The livestream's viewer count instantly skyrocketed from a few dozen to several thousand.

Soon, some patients and their families outside the department were drawn in by the livestream, crowding the office doorway. They held up their phones, pointing fingers at me, while vile insults filled the air.

Aria took the opportunity to step in front of the camera, putting on a tearful act.

"Please help me..." she pleaded. "I'm just an intern. I only told the truth... Now my senior is trying to ruin my future. I really don't know what to do..."

She perfectly played the part of a powerless underdog punished for exposing the truth.

The situation completely spiraled out of control.

Right then, the crowd was forced apart. Carter, the hospital's head of human resources, walked in with a stern expression, followed by several security guards. He was a typical bureaucrat who valued appearances above all else.

Without asking what had happened, Carter looked straight at me.

"To quell the public outcry and protect the hospital's reputation," he stated, "Victoria, you are suspended effective immediately, pending review. You're stripped of all awards and honors for this year. Now, apologize to the family and Aria immediately!"

Aiden looked like he'd been granted a reprieve, immediately bowing and scraping before Carter.

"Yes, yes, yes!" he exclaimed. "The director is absolutely right. We accept all disciplinary measures! I'll hold her down and make her apologize right now!"

I kicked Aiden in the calf, dropping him to his knees right in front of Carter.

Facing dozens of phone cameras, I let out a cold laugh.

"Let them film," I said. "The more evidence, the better."

I looked straight into Carter's eyes.

"Based on a broken surveillance camera and that woman's tears, you sentence my career to death?" I demanded. "Carter, is this how you run Lakewood Hospital?"

Carter went livid at my public defiance.

"You're fired!" he shouted. "Security, throw her out!"

"Who dares lay a hand on her?"

An authoritative voice rang out from outside.

Three people in formal attire pushed through the crowd and walked in. Leading them was Dylan from the city health department's investigative unit, followed by two legal staff.

The air in the office froze.
