I entered the dining room several minutes late. Alpha Samuel and my father conversed as Sapphire sprang to her feet when I walked in.
"Caius, I'm so glad you are here. I was worried something happened," she said as she grabbed my hand.
I instantly withdrew my hand from her grasp.
"No need to be so modest now, love. Everyone knows you have marked and mated me," her annoying voice filled the room.
My father glanced over at me as I bit my tongue. I had to keep my calm until he officially announced the charges.
