Chapter 9

2294 Words

Beau didn’t realize she’d shut her eyes until she found herself falling through the dream. At first, her conscious mind jerked and resisted. But instead of the darkness confining her, like it had done the last six years, she floated down through a sunlit sky and landed on her feet. The plush ground came to greet her bare toes. The roses in the bushes opened their blooms in salutation. Beau ran her fingers over the blooms, certain to steer clear of the thorns. In the distance she saw her dream man. No, not her dream man. Her husband. Philip. It was Philip. Please, god, let it be Philip. Please, god, let it be Philip. She crept nearer to him. Slowly. Afraid any sudden movements might wake her from the dream before he turned around. He stood in his gray suit, looking out into the distance.
