Beau fell into the dream. She couldn’t tell if it was her imagination —well she was in her head so wasn’t this her imagination? But everything seemed brighter, clearer. The flowers were redder, the grass greener. She saw Philip in the distance. Standing looking out across the sky in his gray suit. The light played a trick on her eyes making the suit appear a darker shade of gray. Or perhaps, was that blue? Beau blinked. She braced for the slough to fog over her, for her feet to be weighed down. But it didn’t. They weren’t. It was easier for her to stand up. She didn’t feel a hand on her back but she sensed him near.
