Chapter 19

*ART’S POV*

Shoot! How did the vipers find out that we are here? The worst part is that Larissa is with me. I’m so stupid for bringing her here.

We ran to the opposite direction. Larissa is panicking and I don’t know what to do.

“Don’t worry, I will protect you.” Is all that I can say to her and she nodded.

“I already contacted my sister, she said that Leroy and the others will find us.” She said.

Right, she can telepathically talk to her sister whenever or wherever they are. “Good.”

I looked around and saw that Vipers are coming… and they are fast. I grabbed her and ran again. I hate to admit but I can’t defeat them by myself, they are too many. We were running for our lives and the next thing I knew… we’ve been surrounded. I took Larissa behind me, but they are circling us. I let my weapons out. The guy called Crayos is here and he smirked at me. Asshole!

“Long time no see.” Crayos said with an evil smirk.

“Shut up asshole!” I said.

He hissed and looked at Larissa. “Lumalaki kang maganda katulad ng kapatid mo mahal na prinsesa.” (You’re growing beautifully like your sister your majesty.) He said to Larissa and damn, I don’t know what he is talking about. But I can see in Larissa’s expression that she doesn’t like what this guy said.

“You don’t have the right to talk to her.” I said, I don’t like feeling out of place here.

“You talk too much human.” He smirked again and motioned his allies to attack.

They attacked. Oh Crap!. The viper rushed in together in an attack. I shielded her with my other hand and I threw the boomerang with the other, In one throw I killed five of them. The training is a success I’m telling you. Booyah! But after the five attacked another batch rushed after us.

“Larissa! Go! Run!” I said, they are too many.

“I can’t leave you alone Art!” she said.

“Go! You will not leave me, you are going to help me. You have to find them and get help.” I said when we had an opportunity to hide in one of the big trees. I know they will find us any second now and I have to make her safe. “Do you understand? You have to go and find help.” I cupped her face with my hands and she nodded.

I watch her running towards the opposite direction from where the Vipers are. 

“Patayin nyu siya!” (Kill him!) I heard someone and it was Crayos.

The vipers attacked and I threw the boomerang and used another weapon for the nearer attack, they are just too many. When I had an opening I launched towards Crayos but he avoided me, and I realized that he is not looking at me, he was looking at the direction where Larissa is.

Before he ran he looked at me and smiled maliciously. I knew that he will go after her. Before I could stop him, another set of vipers attacked and all I could do is shout her name.

“LARISSA!!!!” I was hoping that Leroy found her before that bastard.

I wasn’t thinking with that fight, my mind is filled with Larissa, hoping that she is safe. The Vipers sensed that I wasn’t concentrating and they got me. Daggers after daggers were being buried under my flesh. I didn’t exactly imagine that I would die like this. But before death comes I have to make sure that these creatures will die first. I threw the boomerang and lifted my sword; together I used them and defeated the remaining Vipers.

I was breathing heavily, catching a little amount of air. I knew that my wounds are deep and I am losing too much blood. I lay on the ground in the middle of nowhere; I can’t believe that I will die like this. I haven’t even kissed Larissa yet, that hot, gorgeous mermaid of mine. I laughed forcefully. So this is the feeling of waiting for death huh. I can’t hold it anymore; I’m going to lose my consciousness.

“Art… Art are you okay?” Someone slightly slap my face. I want to see who it was but my eyes won’t open.

“We have to bring him back to the house now!” the same person said, I passed out and I don’t know If I will wake up again.

*LARISSA’S POV*

Oh my God! Art is full of blood all over his body. I cried when I saw Leroy carrying him back to the house. They immediately put him to the couch and clean his body.

“Will he be alright?” I asked Leroy not hiding my tears.

“I will do my best.” He said. “Steve, get all my medical apparatus and Greg heat some water we have to sterilize it to avoid infections.” Leroy ordered them.

“What are you doing?” William asked.

“I’m going to operate hm.” Leroy said.

“What? Are you insane?”

“I’m not just a business man Will.” Leroy told William.

“Are you sure about that?” William said.

“Do you have any other options? If we will bring him to the hospital, it will be too late for him, he will die.” Leroy said.

I gasp with what Leroy just said. Neola hugged me as my knees go weak. I can’t see Art like this. He can’t die.

Later Steve and Greg came back with many things that humans use for operating. I’m so nervous. They put Art to another closed room to avoid contaminations and infections. The men all washed their hands thoroughly and wore some garments. William decided to help out with them. Neola and I were left outside the room.

“Everything will be alright… don’t worry.” Neola said and hugged me. I just sobbed in my sister’s shoulders.

They are taking too long, it’s been hours since they’ve been there. I was walking back and forth when Leroy came out.

“Is he okay?” I asked.

“We will see, he lost too much blood and now he needs blood transfusion.” He said.

“Then do it! If he needs blood then you can take mine.” I said hysterically.

“Calm down Larissa, it’s not that easy, Art has a rare blood type, we need to get out of here now.” He said.

It took me a while to calm down. Everyone became so busy preparing for our departure, even Neola is helping William. The vipers have already tracked here. I went in to where Art is laying down. He looked so pale. I started to cry again. I held his hand. It’s still warm… but he looked so weak.

“Art? Do you hear me?” I said hoping that he will answer me, but there is no response. “Arthur Gray… pleases answer me… you can’t die okay?” I said in between sobs. “You can’t give up… you still haven’t showed me Disney land… you promised that you will bring me there after all of this is finished.” I laughed a little remembering how we talked about the future, he is so full of dreams. “You also said that we will have date like what Neola and William did, you promised… don’t break it… please… stay alive for me.” I held his hands closer to mine and brushed my cheek with it. And then his finger moved. “Art? Are you awake?” I said, but he didn’t respond.

I ran outside. “Leroy! Art moved his finger.” I said.

“That’s a good sign honey now, we have to get going. We can’t afford to waste anymore time.” He said and now I moved quickly with them. I wore some long sleeves, Art said it was a jacket. I packed our things as quickly as possible.

Steve and Greg brought Art to another longer car. I didn’t know that Leroy has many cars hidden in here. Art is still in a bed. I went inside with Art and Leroy came in with me. Steve and Greg are in front and Steve was driving. William and Neola are on another car that is called hummer.

“Nice!” I heard Will said when Leroy threw the keys to him.

We drove back to the city and I can feel that the speed is a lot faster than we came here. After a while we arrived  at the huge cave they call hospital but we are still not at the hometown of William and Art.

“Where are we?” I asked Leroy.

“We have to deliver Art here, this is the nearest hospital.” Leroy explained and when he opened the door, lots of people wearing white garments flocked on the entrance and they took Art.

“Wait!” I said but Leroy stopped me.

“Don’t worry they will help Art get better.” He said and I nodded.

We are all waiting outside to what they call operating room. I hate waiting like this. Why do humans always have to make me wait? I asked myself.
