The morning light seeped through the narrow windows of Tolisk’s chamber, but he had barely slept. His mind replayed Jafad’s words over and over—genius among geniuses... monsters... one in a million. He couldn’t shake off the feeling of inadequacy.
Sighing heavily, he forced himself out of bed, splashing cold water on his face to chase away the fatigue. His schedule for the day was another round of medicinal lectures with his mentor. As much as he wasn’t in the mood, he couldn’t afford to skip.
