"Keeper," Ethan said, inclining his head slightly. "I need answers."
The Keeper's gaze shifted to Lydia, and she felt a chill run through her. "You brought the girl," they said, their tone unreadable. "That was...unexpected."
"I did not have a choice," Ethan replied tensely. "She was attacked. By one of them."
The Keeper went very still. "That is not possible."
"I know what I saw," Ethan insisted, stepping forward. "A Shadowbreed. In our temporary home. It came for her specifically."
The Keeper's eyes narrowed, their gaze returning to Lydia with new intensity.
"Come here, child," they said, gesturing her forward.
