  Ethan nodded and sat down in the chair by the window. He listened to her move behind the closed door. Water running. A drawer opening. Toothbrush tapping the sink. The normal sounds were strangely intimate. Not loud, not rushed. Just her...existing.   When she came out, she looked different—not in a big way, but enough to make his chest tighten. An oversized t-shirt, bare legs, and a clean face. She looked softer, younger. Real.   "Your turn," she said.   He got up and brushed past her in the narrow space.
