16 The Hilux sped toward the roiling plume of smoke spewing from the impact crater in the Syrian plain. The driver drove recklessly in his eagerness to get to the crash site. The pickup slewed this way and that, jouncing everybody in the carrier bed. Murad Hussein pressed his torso against the cab, keeping his position as stable as possible against the rocking.
