Todd stopped a few feet from the desk and folded his hands. He felt Nick stop a step behind him and slightly to the right. Unlike during their first meeting there, Nick didn’t take a knee but stood quietly. Glancing down at his wristwatch, Todd said, “It’s ten A.M. on the nose.” Geoffrey Clarke stood and motioned to chairs in front of his desk. “Gentlemen, please, sit down.” “We’re good,” Todd said. He ignored the way Nick snickered, then cleared his throat and shifted his weight. Clarke rolled his eyes and heaved a sigh, sitting behind his desk. “Are we going to play this game again? I’m not the enemy, and I’ve set you loose—twice.” “I’m not exactly sure you’re a friend either.
