Nancy went through the heartbreak by herself. It felt lonely but she had to pull through it because no one was supposed to know of the rough breakup that she was dealing with because she was not supposed to be with George in the first place.
She cried in the bathroom for hours when Frank was not around and forced herself to laugh when he cracked a joke later that evening.
Eventually she chose to be extra loving to Frank so that he never finds out about the affair. Nancy was willing to do all it takes to protect that secret because he did not want to lose Frank.
