Mason had been looking all over for Malia; he knew that he needed to show her how much she meant to him if he was ever going to get her back. He had been to her house and even had searched the entire hedge maze. Somehow it seemed less magical without her in it, the colors and brightness of it all somehow muted and dark. He had then searched her house and checked in with her step-mother making an excuse that he was supposed to study for the upcoming science test but couldn’t remember where they were supposed to meet up for the session. At least the part about the test had been accurate in case they checked his story.
