>>>Jade’s POV<<< Bright, and loud. That was what it was like to be out of my prison. After a decade in darkness, everything around me was too bright. My daughter’s mate had brought in heavy curtains and hung them for me so the sun wouldn’t hurt my eyes anymore. He seemed nice, the other one, well...He seemed more like Zen; cold and calculating, and I didn’t trust him. Then again I didn’t really trust anyone anymore.  The maid brought me food, but they otherwise left me alone and I was thankful for it. I needed to acclimate slowly. The stone pit I had been kept in for so long was now something I felt myself longing for. At least I knew I was safe in the pit. No one was going to hurt me there unless I heard the bars above me move, and that only happened a couple of times.
