I whispered the incantation for the charm the fairies gave me, and I saw my reflection turn to Luca's in the windows outside as I carried Echo to the Northern meadow. Everything was going perfectly; until Drix revealed a woman from the smoke. I nodded for Acostas to come take her away, and that's when he appeared.
My every nightmare was standing before me. The father I had escaped, and the torture he had inflicted on me. The moment the woman was clear from the grounds, Triton took his shot, killing Drix. It was the only way I could reveal myself, or he'd have killed me. My father crouched down to kill me and I simply put up my hand. "Wait. It's not what you think."
I reached up and crushed the fairy amulet in my hand and the glamor of Luca wore away.
