When I woke up all I could feel was paid. It was all over my body. I tried to sit up but it hurt too much. Memories of last night's events were coming back to me. I quickly raised my shirt up to see the freshly burnt skin.
They branded me... They actually f*****g branded me! I could see the design even though my skin was swollen. It was a dragon in the middle of a shield with a burnt circle tracing the outside of it. What the actual fuck... I'm not even where I'm supposed to be and they've already branded me as their property?
Oh hell no!
It was like they sensed that I was awake. Three men came to my side and held me down. Rollings can up to me kneeling down at my side. He had a smirk on his face like he was enjoying what he seeing in front of him. Rollings pulled out a syringe and flicked the glass with his finger.
"We don't want you to get away again now do we?" Rollings said as he pushed the needle into my forearm. I couldn't feel my horse anymore. "What did you do to her? What did you do to Maggie?" I screamed at Rollings.
Without Maggie, I feel like my other half is gone. I feel incomplete, the way everyone describes losing your mate. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Ever!
Rollings must have gotten pleasure out of seeing me this way. He just laughed and stood up. Right before he was about to walk away he looked over his shoulder, "Next time, don't be so stubborn. We like our women to be submissive. Not... Whatever you are..."
************
They tied my wrist together and wrapped the end of the rope around the horn of the saddle. When it was time to go Rollings led the way. When the horse I was tied to starting moving it harshly pulled me forward. I couldn't keep up. It was like I was constantly being dragged by my wrist. I could feel the rope burn becoming more painful. With every mile, my wrist would start bleeding worse.
By the time we made it to the huge metal gates, the rope had already dug into my skin.
The black metal gates swung open allowing us to enter and see what's behind the tall brick walls. We walked in and when the last one of the uniformed men was inside the walls, the gates closed shut.
At that moment I felt like there was no way out of here. I was shocked at what I saw in front of me. everything was run down. The houses on the left had holes in the roof and you could see through the holes in the walls.
To the right, you couldn't even call those places home. All that was there was little shacks with tin roofs. Who the hell would live in that. My hut may have been small my it was livable unlike those.
We began moving again. As we walked further into this unknown land, everything started to change. The houses. The houses started looking a lot better. there was grass in the yards of some of the homes. As we walked this place started to look like we weren't just in a run-down s**t hole. It looked like a thriving little town.
I could see the restaurant sign down the street. There's a bar across the street from the restaurant. Just beyond that, I can see a little farm and a hospital. We didn't turn down that street though.
We kept walking further into this place they call home. The houses were getting nicer and had beautiful lawns with flower trimming. And then I could see it. On top of a hill, there's a castle. gorgeous marble steps going up to the front of the yard.
There's a black brick path that goes around the hill. That's the way we took. I'm guessing because of the horses. A huge red barn came into view with stablemen waiting. As the uniform me approached them they quickly grabbed the reins from the men and let them dismount. The horses were led into the garn except for the one I'm tied to.
Rollings came up to me and put the rope a few inches away from my wrist. "Now be a good girl and maybe you can stay with me tonight," Rollings smirked at me while grabbing the rope that was around my wrist. "What makes you think I want to be near you let alone share a bed with you?" I scoffed at him. He rolled his eyes at my remark and pulled me into him, "You'll regret saying that later. But for now, we have matters to attend to."
We started walking again towards the castle. As we entered the Throne Room we were forced to our knees. I, unlike the others, had two guards on each side of me with their hands on my shoulders. What the hell do they think I'm gonna do. I can't fight all of them. I can't shift. There is no way I'm getting out of their grasp now.
The King spoke with power in his voice, "I'm glad you could join us son. I'm sure if I had sent Jason out there he would have had this done three days ago. If it wasn't for all of the arrangements, he would have gone before you."
"We had some complications on the way back," Rollings answered. "I don't need f*****g excuses. I need orders to be fulfilled in a timely manner. Do you not get that Jake? Are you too stupid to follow simple orders? Get the recruits from the Western Border and bring them back... That's all I asked."
So his name is Commander Jake Rollings? Hmm.
"Well if it wasn't for tracking down the White Beast, we would have been back on time," Jake huffed as if he didn't just say the most important thing in the world. "Wait, you found him?" The King sat forward with a mesmerized look on his face. "Her actually... The White Beast is a girl." Jake said as he looked at his nails for effect.
The King got and walked over to Jake. "Stop playing games with me boy. Where is she?" He said as he grabbed Jake's neck."There. She's over there," Jake started coughing as his body fell to the ground. Jake started rubbing his throat trying to easy the pain.
The kings' eyes fell on me and a smirk played across his face. He made his way over to me. He grabbed my face and made me look at him.
"Well well well. You're in for a treat my dear."
