Chapter 3: Bakery

Mateo  I waited for Liam in the office for the information. I'm not sure why I wanted to know about her, but I just did.  "This is what I found." He said while walking into the office. "Kristy Hale, recently graduated from college, she studied business. Has a four-year-old sister named Chloe. They live with her best friend Johanna but goes by Jojo."  "What else? any boyfriend?" I asked.  "I'm getting there, and no, she doesn't have a boyfriend. Their parents died 6 months ago in an accident. She works at the club to pay bills. Her roommate is a kindergarten teacher. They live in a nice neighborhood that's 20 minutes away from here."  "I think it's time I get a new assistant." I smirked.  Kristy  After an hour, we finally arrived at the bakeryestaurant. I swear this cheeky little person takes all morning to decide what to wear. We sat at the table and waited for someone to attend us.  "Hi, what can I get you two?" The waitress asked us.  "I want cookies and more cookies." Chloe giggled as did the waitress.  "Sorry, the person who makes the cookies, is sick."  "How can they not have cookies today?" Chloe pouted.  "Because that's life." I said as she sighed. Such a dramatic little person. The waitress left.  "I forgot to tell the lady something." Chloe said while leaving the booth. I'm too tired to go after her. I'll just watch her from afar. As she was walking to the lady, she bumped into someone.  "Sorry mister." She giggled. My eyes widened as I saw the same man from last night.  "You shouldn't wander alone, where's your table?" he asked and she pointed at to where I was. I got up and walked towards them.  "Sorry about her. She's a little clumsy."  "I'm not clumsy, he got in my way." She answered and he just laughed. What a nice laugh.  "Hey lady." She said before going to where the waitress was.  "That's my little sister, a very cheeky one too." I said as he chuckled.  "She's cute. I'm Mateo Hawthorne." He smiled.  "I'm Kristy Hale." I smiled as we shook hands.  "All done." She said while skipping to the booth. We just chuckled.  "If you're not in a hurry, you can join us."  "Love to." He replied. We walked to the table and took a seat.  "Thank you for last night."  "You're welcome, I don't like when guys disrespect women." That made me smile.  We enjoyed our food and he was really nice to talk to, it's been a while since I've had a proper talk with a guy. Normally all they want is s*x and fun. But he gave me a nice vibe. We went to the parking lot and he stopped me before entering my car.  "Here's is my card, that club isn't for you. I'll be expecting you." He handed me the card and he got in his car and drove off.  "Ohh, sissy and Mateo sitting in a tree." She started to sing. I just chuckled.  Mateo  Liam told me that she comes to this bakery a lot, I figure luck would be on my side today and indeed. It was the perfect opportunity to introduce myself and offer her a job. She thinks is an interview but she will have the job. I just hope she shows up.  I arrived at the office and Liam entered it. I swear this man is way too curious.  "How did it go?"  "Well, I introduce myself and offered her the job, well I gave her a card and hope she shows up tomorrow." I answered him.  "What's your deal with this girl? remember you have a girlfriend. One that your mother wants for you to marry." He reminded me.  "As far as I'm concerned, we're not engage and she's just that, my girlfriend."  "What about your mother's health, if you break up with Laura it can cause her pain?" He told me.  My mother has a heart condition, she can't get big surprises. She has to take it easy.  "I'm still with her, I just want to help this girl." I said truthfully. I don't know why I feel the need to protect her. Am I crazy for that?  Kristy  I went home and Chloe went to her room to take a nap.  "I'm home." Jojo announced while walking in. "Conference are so exhausting." She sighed while plopping on the couch.  "Chloe told me you were in a comfy teacher all day." I said as we laughed.  "What did I miss today?"  "Well.." I told her everything and she went in shock mode.  "Mateo Hawthorne is like the most powerful CEO in New York!!" She screamed. I swear I can't with her.  "I had no clue who he was, but I'm not sure about this job, he is a little intimidating."  "Just go, might change your life in many ways." She smirked.  "Only you." I shook my head.  I look at the card and thought about it. I'll have to sleep on it and decide tomorrow. To go or not to go?
