Chapter XXX

Carolina My head shoots up from the deep slumber I was just in. I’m not able to get that far though because of the heavy arm that’s keeping me anchored down onto the plush bed I’m half on. I look down to see that my upper body was being pressed against a bare, chiseled abdomen and chest. I notice I’m no longer in the dress I was wearing but instead in a silk night shirt that’s too many sizes too big for me. I feel my face heat up when I realize I’m only wearing my underwear underneath. My lower body is hidden under the luscious duvet; my legs are tangled with long, silk pants covered legs.  Elijah’s grip around my waist loosens and he lets out a groan. His once peaceful looking handsome face stirs a bit. He brings his large hand behind my head and gently pushes it back down into his first chest. “Go back to sleep,” he mumbles sleepily. The sound of his husky morning voice makes my heart swoon.  “W-where am I?” I stutter softly as my fingers gently trace the outline of his six pack.  “You’re at my pent house. Technically, I own and reside in the whole building. Either way, you’re safe now,” he hums. His long fingers gently run through my hair, causing shivers to run down my spine. The feeling of his chest softly vibrating against my cheek as he speaks nearly has me purring in delight. Ugh, this man basically has me wrapped around his finger.  I pull away again and this time he lets me break free enough to sit up. My eyes sweep over his form. Elijah is lying shirtless with the sheets and duvet just barely coming up to his waist. He has one arm resting behind his head while the other is lazily resting at the small of my back. The sunlight pours into the room, bathing his impressive form in a warm glow. He looks unearthly. His blue eyes are half lidded as they take in my appearance, which I’m sure looks like a hot mess. His facial features look relaxed and even a bit dazed from just waking up. His full lips are curled up in a slight smirk, making him look deliciously mischievous and just a little bit cocky.  This man asked me to be his girlfriend? And I basically said no? I must be insane. And to think he still went out of his way to save me. The thought of everything that happened not long ago makes tears start to well up in my eyes. The smile on Elijah’s lips immediately drop into a scowl. He sits up quickly now alert and fully awake.  “What’s wrong? Are you hurt?” He asks frantically, his eyes quickly checking me over. I shake my head as soft sobs rake through my body.  “I-I thought I wasn’t going to see you ever again. I-I was afraid of what Cohen was planning on doing to you,” I stutter between sobs.  Elijah softly shushes me. He pulls me into his chest. He wraps one arm around my waist while he runs his other warm hand up and down my back comfortingly. “I’m right here,” he coos, “We’re together now. We’re both safe and I’m never letting anything happen to you again.”  We continue to embrace each other for what feels like forever. I just want to stay in his warmth. “Thanks for saving me,” I whimper as my breath starts to even out.  Elijah lets out a deep chuckle. The chuckle soon turns into throaty laugh. It’s almost like he thinks what I said was a joke. Now I feel a little embarrassed.  “What’s so funny?” I snap as I feel my face heat up all over again.  “You’re so funny, love,” he chuckles, his laughs starting to die down. “I appreciate your gratitude. But there’s no need to thank me. Whether you want me to or not, I will always save you. I lo-“ Elijah abruptly pauses before clearing his throat. “I would do anything for you, my queen. You have no idea how much you mean to me.”  I pull out of his grasp just enough so I can look up at him. I know that’s not all he wants to say. And for some reason, a small part of me is a little disappointed he didn’t say it. But I guess I’m not surprised. I couldn’t even agree on our relationship status with him.  I gently cup Elijah’s face, his light stubble scratching the palms of my hands. I angle his face downward so we are making complete eye contact. “I want to talk to you about that,” I say. His eyes soften for a moment and he bites his bottom lip in anticipation. I can almost laugh at how nervous he looks. One can say he even looks vulnerable right now.  “What is there to talk about?” He asks warily.  “I want to talk about the way our date ended,” I start.  Elijah’s expression immediately becomes guarded and stiff. He’s still not particularly happy about my pushing him away that night. It makes my heart ache seeing him upset still. Did I hurt him? “There’s nothing to talk about,” he says stiffly. “We’re still friends-“  “I don’t want to be friends,” I abruptly cut him off. Elijah blinks at me blankly.  “You don’t want to be friends?” He repeats in confusion.  I run my hands up and down his chest. I let out a sigh as my mind wanders off to my exchange with David that night. Who am I kidding? Had I not seen David, I would’ve been calling Elijah my boyfriend already. “You said that night that you would give me time to consider us boyfriend and girlfriend. And I’ve thought about it,” I say lowly. His eyes become intense as they peer down at mine waiting for my answer. My heart feels like it’s going to pump out of my chest.  “I-I want to try being in an exclusive relationship with you. What did you call it? A courtship? Being boyfriend and girlfriend?” I admit shakily. Elijah seems to be completely frozen, a blank expression adorning his face. On the other hand, what looks like a million different emotions seem be flashing across his eyes. He doesn’t say anything and now I can’t stop myself from babbling. “I realize I’ve been judging you based on things you haven’t done and my past fears and that’s not fair to you. You’ve done nothing so far to make me believe I shouldn’t trust you. We had a rocky start but you never hurt me and I feel like you’ve always treated me with respect. And on top of that, you’ve always been there to save me and protect me even when I didn’t deserve it-“ His lips crash onto mine, effectively shutting me up. The arm wrapped around my waist tightens, bringing me closer. His other hand cups my face. His fingers gently caress my cheeks, making me melt. I wrap my arms around his neck, trying to pull myself up closer to him. Our lips meld together passionately. I nearly moan when I feel his tongue run across my lips as if asking for permission. I easily give it to him and he slips his tongue into my wet cavern. Our tongues dance passionately for dominance; it doesn’t take Elijah long to win, though. I let out a moan as I feel him move his hand from my waist to grip my butt.  Just when I think I’m about to run out of air, Elijah pulls away from the kiss. We’re both breathing heavily. Elijah’s lips soon find themselves on my neck. He places slow, tender kisses on my skin, making my body heat up all over. I grip onto his shoulders and throw my head back in pleasure when he finds my sweet spot. Soft groans and moans escape my lips as he gently sucks on the sensitive skin. I let out a small yelp when I feel his teeth nibble into my neck. Elijah leaves me a melted pile of goo as he finishes by dragging his tongue across my sweet spot.  I’m trembling when he pulls away. He gives me a dark lustful look that makes me want to jump him. He leans down and places another kiss on my lips. This one is different. It’s far more delicate and sweet, and I enjoy it just as much.  “You want to be my girlfriend,” Elijah finally states softly after pulling away from the kiss.  “I do,” I say slightly in a daze still.  Elijah’s eyes sweep over my form and a smirk crawls onto his lips. “You want to be my girlfriend,” he repeats, his smirk spreading into a wide grin. He starts to pepper my face with light kisses that leave me giggling.  “Yes, yes,” I say breathlessly, “I want to be your girlfriend. And I want you to be my boyfriend.” Elijah’s smiling now like a little kid in a candy store. The genuine, million dollar smile he’s wearing makes him look adorable. He then pulls flush against hims and pulls us down onto the bed so we’re lying down. He adjusts us so he’s spooning me and pulls the covers back over us. “Can you say it?” He whispers as he nuzzles his face into my shoulder.  “Say what?” I ask.  “That you’re mine,” he replies. The feeling of his hot breath fanning across my neck is making my heart skip a beat.  “I am yours, Elijah,” I say. “I’m yours now and you’re mine. And I don’t share, got that?” I turn slightly to give him a pointed look. Elijah just chuckles.  “Neither do I,” he responds before placing a kiss on my cheek.  I can feel his breath start to slow down as if he’s starting to nod off to sleep. “Elijah,” I say. He hums in response. “Is it okay if I shower and brush my teeth?”  “Would you like me to accompany you with that shower?” He asks teasingly. Though a part of me feels like he’s also being serious.  I smack his chest and he lets out a chuckle. “Calm down, we’re not there yet,” I scold playfully.  “Key word is ‘yet’”, he says before reluctantly letting me go. I slip out of his heavenly bed and look at him expectantly.  He points to a door behind me. “My bathroom is over there. There are fresh towels folded inside on the counter. Feel free to use anything you need,” he explains.  “Um, what do I wear?” I ask awkwardly while fiddling with my fingers.  “I have no problem with you wearing nothing,” he smirks. I let out a gasp. Could he be any more perverted? I grab one of his pillows and smack him with it. Elijah just laughs.  “Okay, okay,” he says as he throws his hands up in surrender. “While I’d much rather you wear my clothes, your friend had Charles drop off a bag with some of your things. If you prefer to use that, the duffle bag is on that chair over there.” Elijah points to a large chair a few feet away from his bed, set facing a large book case at a corner of the room.  I go over to the chair and am relieved to find a familiar looking duffle bag. I quickly grab it before heading into the bathroom. I can feel Elijah’s eyes on me the entire time I was walking between the chair and the bathroom. I give him one last glance before closing the door behind me.  Before doing anything else, I drop the duffle bag on the floor. I can’t stop myself from jumping around a bit squealing in excitement. I’m Elijah Seka’s girlfriend.
