The Ghost Inside Kingsley Tower

628 Words
Hope stared at Marcus in disbelief. "That's impossible." Marcus replayed the traffic footage on his tablet. A black SUV with tinted windows drove through the underground entrance of Kingsley Global Headquarters at exactly 3:17 p.m.—the same afternoon Noah disappeared. "The license plates were fake," Marcus said. "But facial recognition confirmed it was the same vehicle seen leaving Raven Hall." Ethan's jaw tightened. "They're hiding in our own building." Hope immediately took charge. "Lock down every entrance and exit." Marcus nodded. "It's already done." "No one leaves until we find my father." --- Within minutes, the building went into emergency lockdown. Security officers searched every floor. Parking garages were cleared. Conference rooms, storage areas, and maintenance tunnels were inspected. After two hours... Nothing. It was as if the vehicle—and Noah—had vanished. Hope stood in the security control room, watching dozens of surveillance screens. "There has to be something we missed." Olivia entered carrying a folder. "The maintenance department sent these." "What are they?" "Blueprints." Hope spread the plans across the table. Marcus leaned over them. "These are the original blueprints from forty years ago." Hope noticed something strange. "There are two elevator shafts." Marcus frowned. "But we only use one." Hope traced the second shaft with her finger. "It ends..." She stopped. "In a sub-basement." Marcus looked surprised. "There isn't supposed to be a sub-basement." "There is now." --- Ten minutes later, Hope, Marcus, Ethan, and four security officers stood before a concrete wall deep beneath Kingsley Tower. The hidden elevator had long since been sealed with reinforced concrete. Marcus tapped the wall. "Hollow." Hope looked at him. "Can we get through?" He nodded. "But it will take time." "Start." Heavy equipment was brought in. The sound of drills echoed through the underground corridors. After nearly thirty minutes... The wall cracked. A section collapsed inward. Behind it stood an old steel elevator door covered in dust. Hope stepped forward. "The coordinates." Marcus smiled grimly. "They led us here." The emergency generator still supplied a small amount of power. With a loud groan, the elevator doors slowly opened. Cold air drifted out. The lift descended into darkness. No floor number appeared on the panel. Only a single button marked with a silver raven. Hope pressed it. The elevator began moving. Down. Far below the known foundations of Kingsley Tower. When the doors finally opened, everyone fell silent. The underground level looked untouched for decades. Rows of filing cabinets lined the walls. Old computers sat beneath white sheets. On the far wall hung a massive emblem of a silver raven. Beneath it were the words: PROJECT RAVEN "This place..." Ethan whispered. "I've never seen it before." Hope slowly walked inside. Everything had been abandoned in a hurry. Coffee cups still sat on desks. Documents lay scattered across the floor. Marcus picked up one file. His face changed. "Hope..." She turned. He handed her the document. Across the top, stamped in bold black letters, were the words: CLASSIFIED Below them... Founding Partners - Adrian Kingsley - Michael Sterling - Jonathan Blackwood Hope's hands trembled. "So Project Raven was real." Suddenly... A slow clap echoed through the room. Clap. Clap. Clap. Everyone spun around. A tall man stepped out of the shadows wearing a tailored black suit. His expression was calm. His blue eyes never left Hope. "I've been waiting for you." Marcus immediately drew his weapon. "Don't move!" The man smiled faintly. "I didn't come here to fight." Hope stared at him. "Who are you?" He straightened his tie before answering. "My name..." He paused. "...is Alexander Knight." Hope's eyes widened. The same name from Adrian's secret file. Alexander looked directly at her. "And if you want to save Noah Kingsley..." "You'll have to trust me."
