Innocent big blue eyes stared up at Kay. The boy looked both surprised and like he was trying to suppress the tears when he said, “Y-you can see me?” with such relief. Kay and Michael exchanged glances at the same time, and Michael nodded.
“Yes, we can,” he sweetly smiled at the boy as he knelt down in front of him and ruffled his hair. “Are you lost?”
The child sadly nodded and looked around. “I think I lost my mommy outside.”
“Come on, let’s help you find her,” Michael said, giving Kay a meaningful glance. There was no way they were going to find his mother, and Kay knew that. “Do you remember where you last saw her?”
“I-I think I was outside,” the child frowned, as if having difficulties remembering. “There was a… there was a puppy.”
