I groaned and swung my legs up on the chair next to me, trying to get comfortable. Night shifts were pretty boring without specific assignments but it was imperative that there were veterinarians on site in case of an emergency, or just routine check-ups for the nocturnal guests.
A quick glance at my watch confirmed that there were still plenty of hours to go and the strange schedule I’d been on meant I wasn’t even tired. Such a waste of a good night.
