"If he touches you, I burn this place to the ground." Ryvarn stood behind me, voice sharp and low, hands clenched at his sides. I could still feel the warmth of our bond pulsing between us. It hadn't faded. If anything, it was louder now, like a second heartbeat that wouldn't stop screaming his name. I turned to him, forcing calm into my voice. "He won't lay a hand on me. He still thinks he owns me. Let me show him he doesn't." He didn't like it, but he nodded. Slowly. I didn’t wait for more. I opened the heavy door. Two guards stood outside, stiff and silent.
