His eyes burned into me like I was something filthy, he didn’t want to see. And a muscle ticked in his temple as his darker than the night eyes looked from me to Allister, who had a slight smirk on his lips. I pulled back, gasping for breath as I bent my head down. Soft fingers pulled my hair back, brushing the strands off my damp cheeks and then I heard him, “You did good, princess…” He caressed my head as if I was his adored pet, like I was his lover… or his possession. But to his foreign warmth, there was a familiar chill coming from the man at my back. It was like a storm was brewing in close distance and I could feel its vibrations. “
