CHEERS 3 : BETRAYAL AND EXILE

1066 Words
Eden’s POV "You can end the marriage now. I'm back," Scarlett said. "And unlike her, I have my wolf. A strong one. I'll give you children, Caleb. True heirs, lots of wolf pups. Unless you want her to bear your children." "As if I would ever let Eden have my children!" Caleb scoffed. "She's the daughter of a traitor! I can't let a traitor’s daughter give birth to my bloodline!" Scarlett giggled at his cruel words, and I stood frozen in shock. He was my husband! How could he say something so vile? He smeared my mother’s name, calling her a traitor. I wanted to stop this madness, but my feet wouldn’t move. Just as I was about to burst into the room, I heard them continue speaking. “So, dear, why did you leave me so suddenly?” Caleb’s tone was gentle, a softness I had never experienced from him. "It’s okay, darling, you can tell me." "I was poisoned by wolfsbane. It was awful, pure torture. I wasn’t even conscious! My parents sent me to the Solace Pack because they specialize in werewolf medicine. I suffered for so long." Scarlett’s voice cracked, and I could hear her sobbing through the door. "It took months before I regained consciousness. And when I did, well, I heard you had married Eden." "Who did this to you?" Caleb’s voice darkened with anger. "My maid told me it was Eden. She was jealous of our love and wanted to become Luna. So she poisoned me." I gasped, my heart pounding in disbelief. I never poisoned anyone, let alone my half-sister! "I didn’t poison you!" I shouted, rushing into the room to defend myself. Their heads snapped toward me, shock flashing in their eyes. They exchanged glances, probably wondering how much I had overheard. I made sure they knew. "I heard everything," I said, lifting my chin in defiance. I expected embarrassment from them, but instead, they looked at me with disdain. That’s when I realized—they didn’t care if I knew. They were planning to be together all along. "Don’t act innocent, Eden," Scarlett sneered, reaching for Caleb’s hand. "If you hadn’t poisoned me two years ago, I wouldn’t have collapsed today. Wolfsbane messed up my body, and you stole my love! Today, I’m going to reveal your schemes and make sure Caleb sees who you are." "No! You’re the one lying, Scarlett! I would never—" I tried to defend myself, but the sight of Caleb holding Scarlett protectively broke my words in half. The cold indifference in his eyes was like a dagger to my heart. Tears welled up despite my efforts to hold them back. "Your mother was a traitor, and you’ve inherited her blood. You were born to deceive!" Scarlett's words cut deep, her smug grin making me burn with rage. Before I could think, I lashed out and slapped her across the face. She gasped and staggered, but Caleb caught her just in time. The way he held her so tenderly made my heart ache with unbearable pain. Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. Suddenly, Caleb grabbed me by the throat, his grip iron-like. I gasped for air as he forced me to my knees. "Apologize," he commanded, his voice filled with authority that no one could defy. "I-I’m sorry," I stuttered, though I wasn’t sure what hurt more—my throat or my heart. As he released me, I clutched my neck and spoke through the tears, "My mother wasn’t a traitor, and I didn’t poison anyone. I haven’t lied to you, Caleb." Scarlett stepped forward with a victorious smile. "The fact that you hit me in front of Caleb proves everything. You’ve been faking your innocence this whole time." "How could such a morally flawed she-wolf ever be Luna of your pack, Caleb?" she continued, curling up closer to him. Caleb turned toward me, his expression hardening even more. "Not anymore," he said coldly. A terrible feeling gripped my heart. "Scarlett’s right," Caleb continued. "If it weren’t for your family, I never would’ve married a wolfless girl like you. A she-wolf like you doesn’t deserve to be Luna." I couldn’t breathe. His words echoed in my mind, shattering every hope I’d held onto. My heart felt as though it had been frozen solid. Then, Caleb spoke the words that changed everything. "I, Caleb, Alpha of the Sequoia Pack, reject you, Eden, as my Luna." "No! Caleb, please, don’t do this!" I begged, falling to my knees, but he looked down at me with disgust. "A werewolf without a wolf is a disgrace to the pack. I’m exiling you." His voice was cold, uncaring. My world collapsed. Tears blurred my vision, and I could barely see. "Please, don’t," I whispered through the sobs. "Warriors!" Caleb barked, and in seconds, several guards stormed in. Without hesitation, they dragged me out of the pack hospital. As I was hauled away, I caught one last glimpse of Caleb and Scarlett—kissing. "No!" I screamed, desperately clawing at the warriors. They tossed me across the pack’s border like I was nothing. "You’re expelled, Eden," the head warrior growled. "By the Alpha’s command. If you step foot inside this territory again, we’ll kill you on sight." With that, they marched away, leaving me alone in the dark. The night was cold, and I was without protection. I had no pack anymore. I was a rogue. I stumbled into the forest, my body trembling from both fear and despair. Every shadow and every sound felt like a threat. This was rogue territory—danger lurked in every corner. The moonlight filtered through the trees, casting eerie shadows across the ground. I leaned against a tree, trying to gather my thoughts. My body was numb, but the pain in my heart was unbearable. I was alone. Abandoned. Rejected by the man I loved, betrayed by my blood, and cast out from the only life I had ever known. Tears threatened to spill again, but I forced them back. In this unforgiving world, showing weakness could mean death. "Just survive the night," I whispered to myself, trying to summon some courage. Suddenly, a howl pierced the silence, sending shivers down my spine. I turned toward the sound, my heart racing. Two glowing eyes stared at me from the darkness. Wolf's eyes. And they were locked on me.
