Darren POV:
I had just left my last class for the day and was walking towards the library. I looked up in one of the windows and that’s when I saw her sitting there with that warlock. I was looking up at her for a couple of minutes when she suddenly looked down at me.
We locked eyes for a few minutes. Making eye contact with her made my wolf Felix stir, but he didn’t say anything. I broke eye contact with her and made my way back to my dorm. Disappearing into the crowd in the process.
For someone who claims to be completely normal, she sure does surround herself with a lot of supernatural beings. I got back to my dorm and Jackson was there. He was my roommate and best friend. He would be my beta when I eventually took over our pack as alpha.
That’s why I’m here to take business classes and computer science because I would be taking over the family business as well. My pack is pretty wealthy, owning a large tech firm.
“Hey dude what’s up?” Jaxon was chilling on his side of the room playing a video game. “Not much.” I responded putting my book away. “Just gonna go for a run in the woods, Felix needs to stretch his legs.”
He paused his game. “Want me to come with you? I don't mind.” I shook my head no. “No, that’s ok I’ll just mind link you if I need you.” He continued his game. “Alright just let me know.”
With that, I left our dorm and made my way out to the woods. The campus wasn’t too far from pack territory, but it was still far enough that there were other supernatural creatures running out and about.
After I felt like I was far enough into the woods that no one would see me I stripped and shifted. I let Felix take control because he had been restless all day and needed to blow off some steam.
“That girl Celeste what do you think she is?”He hadn’t stopped talking about her all day. “I don’t know, but there is definitely something suppressing her true nature.” “We need to talk to her more to figure it out that’s for sure. But I think you’ve definitely weirded her out after cornering her in the hall like that.”
He didn’t need to remind me of that. I know I f****d up. “I know but I can’t take it back now, I’ll just have to think of a way to win her trust. Got any ideas?” He said nothing at that just continued to run until suddenly he came to a complete stop. I was about to ask him what was up but then I saw her.
She was sitting on a fallen tree. She was dressed in workout clothes so she must've been out running. She looked like she was trying to catch her breath. “What’s she doing all the way out here alone? Doesn’t she realize it’s dangerous?” Suddenly she was leaning forward trying to get a better look at something. “f**k I think she saw us.” We got out of there as fast as our legs could carry us. “You don’t think she got a good look did she?”
“I don’t know, I hope not.” After that we ran back to where I had left my clothes earlier and I shifted taking back the rains. I made my way back to our dorm and didn’t run into her on the way back. When I got back, Jaxon was still playing his game. “Hey dude, how was the run?”
I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I had been holding until now. “It was good. I’m gonna hit the showers.”I grabbed what I needed and left. When I got there I saw her entering the girls showers. I almost went up to her and said something but decided against it.
I really didn’t want to keep coming off as a creep and talking to her on the way to the showers probably wouldn’t be a good start. “Looks like we’re in the same building. I wonder what floor she’s on.” I didn’t respond to him. Instead, I hit the showers and tried to clear my head and make all thoughts of her disappear. I was unsuccessful.
I couldn’t stop thinking about her, the way her curls bounced when she walked, her dark mysterious eyes, and her curvy figure. My heart started to race.“Stop thinking about her like that, we don’t even know what she is!”
I sighed. “You don’t think I know that? I’m sorry I can’t help it. Besides, it doesn't help when she's all you've talked about the past few days.” This shower really wasn’t helping me stop those train of thoughts. I turned the water on to cold and just stood under for a few minutes hoping it would help. “f**k this.”
I shut the water off and made my way back up to our room. Thankfully I didn't run into her again. Jaxon was finally done playing his game and instead was eating some top ramen and watching some UFC fight.
“I’m gonna hit the hay early tonight.” He looked up from his noodles. “You wanna talk about it? I can tell somethings bothering you. Or maybe it’s someone?” He wiggled his eyebrows. Making me roll my eyes. I shook my head. “No I just want to shut my brain off for awhile and go to sleep.”
“Ok you know I’m here if you need me.” I nodded and laid down. “Thanks bro.” I drifted off to sleep and hoped I wouldn’t dream about her again tonight.
