Lucas came home later that night and found the kids sleeping peacefully in their bedroom. He was worried about how they had managed to cope without him, but then he remembered it wouldn't be the first time the kids spent an entire day with Sophia.
She was in the kitchen preparing dinner for herself and possibly Lucas if he decided to join her. As Lucas entered the kitchen, her tummy grumbled. The kids and Parsley had eaten the chocolate muffin without sparing her a bite.
“I could have sworn your tummy just yelled at me,” Lucas teased.
He placed his right hand at her back and gently kissed her cheek. “Thanks for today,” he whispered in her ear. “It seems you and the kids have really bonded.”
