The morning was the same but Sophia Cruz's routine was different. She had the boys crying in her ears about how hungry they were. One of the perks of being a good Samaritan. Isn't it?
She groggily moved from the bed, into the kitchen to find a suitable dish for the trio. She cussed under her breath. The fridge needs to be filled with groceries as there was none available that moment.
She took a quick shower, slipped on her most comfortable pants and tees, did the same for the triplets, except it wasn't her clothes. She brought them some new ones from their apartment. Making sure all three were tucked well and safe in the back seat of her car, she drove to the nearest grocery store to get some ingredients. Everyone she came across would stare, some address her like she were the mother of the children. After many failed attempts of clarifying that they weren't her real babies, Sophia gave up.
'Your babies are so cute. We should have you and them in our next company's magazine shoot' A random stranger walked up to her to say.
Sophia waved him off. 'I'm sorry but they're not mineee.'
He snorted. 'No need to be ashamed because you had them in your early years. This might come as a big opportunity for you by the way. You would be paid handsomely if you agree to do so. We're talking about ten thousand if not above'.
'I'm sorry.. I can't'. Although tempting, Sophia waved off the offer.. After successfully getting every things needed, they went back home.
... Preparing dinner with the three on her tail wasn't quite an easy task. She thought momentarily if this is what their father goes through everyday. At that moment, the door bell rang.
Sophia wiped her wet hands on her apron and opened the door, the triplets trailing behind her, still.
" How may I help you?" She wanted to say but the words stuck in her throat. She got lost, staring into the stranger's eyes. He had the most beautiful smile. Ohhh. How handsome he is!!! It's even more evident now that he's not lying lifelessly on the cold floor.
"Hi... I believe..." His deep voice reverberated through her head.
'oh s**t. Sophia.. get a grip.on yourself.' she inwardly cautioned herself.
'Hey.. do com...' she didn't get the chance to complete her statement.
"Daddy!!" The boys shouted dragged their father into the apartment.
He sent Sophia an apology look as he allowed himself to be pulled in. Sophia said nothing, she was yet to catch her breath. Staying close to men like this is gonna be so dangerous for her mental health and probably her legs too!
The triplets hovered around him, not giving him a chance to even sit. He looked way better than yesterday. Clad in grey tees and Jean trousers. he looked pretty good, especially as those tees are showing off his appropriately muscled arms and perfectly lined abs.
'It's good to see you're fine now' her voice were smaller than usual as she used them.
He tousled his hair. 'It's all thanks to you Miss' .
He extended his hands for a handshake but Sophia only stared.. he fisted his stretched palm and dropped it to his sides.
'My name's Lucas Fernando. nice to meet you'
She swallowed hard. 'I'm Sophia Cruz. Nice to meet you too'.
'I believe you are new. We've never seen you around here before'
She nodded. 'Technically, yes'
'You're welcome to our neighborhood. Thanks for helping yesterday and if you really don't mind, you can come over for dinner. I'll treat you'
She flushed. 'I'll consider it'
'Please do, I'm sure the boys will be glad to have you around.'.
Sophia pointed towards her kitchen entrance. 'Uhm. I'm just gonna go check what's cooking. I wouldn't want to leave that to burn'.
He shrugged. 'Sure'.
She heard the boys from the kitchen narrate to their dad events that happened From yesterday till that moment. Sophia busied herself, set the table with the already done meal..
'You should join for breakfast too since you're here'
'No.. please, allow me pass'.
She rubbed her sweaty palms together. Why does he sound.as sexy as he looks. Nahh. This gotta be a violation!!!.
She cleared her throat. 'I already served your share. It was something I prepared for the triplets already. So please.'.
He eventually did.. soon after, he took his boys along. Leaving the apartment to her now.
Parsley's call came in not long after they left.
'Coming over to the club tonight?'
'I'm not sure. I think I've got something else to attend to'
'Again?? You couldn't make it yesterday due to the babysitting job you got. The same now?'
'I'm Sorry'
'What is it you have to attend to?' Parsley asked sharply. 'is it a date?'
Although, Sophia couldn't see her but she knows for sure Parsley was beaming with excitement on the other side of the phone. Both girls have grown to be very close to each other. Best friends in fact. Thanks to the close relationship between their parents.
'Not really a date, you see, the next door neighbor invited me over to his home for dinner...'
Parsley squeaked on the other end of the phone. 'Good for you, Sophia. Good for you. It's time you get over that your d**k sucker, ex boyfriend. He's not worth you after all. Is this neighbor married. How cute is he on a scale of one to sixty. Tell me. Tell me. Tell me' she demanded eagerly, her mood charging from 0 to 100.
Sophia giggled amusingly. Growing up, Parsley bad been the quiet one while she had been the talkative. No one saw the switch coming. Parsley grew into a talkative while Sophia Cruz extroverted attitude, sulked in.
She succumbed, telling Parsley all she needs to hear.
'Remember the kids from yesterday? They were his...,' Sophia began her little narration, excitement spiking her features as she went on and on about this man who claimed to be Lucas. What she didn't expect is the pessimistic reaction from her best friend.
'Since he's a single dadda... I don't think you both are gonna made a good couple. How about his baby mama. What happened to her? He probably ditched her or wasn't worth her stress which is why she left him. I do not support the ship.'.
'We can't say. She might be dead or she might be the one who's the real asshole.'
'Look at you. Coming to his defense already. I don't have a good feeling about this.'
'Parsley'.
'Tell him you can't make it to the dinner tonight. Come to the club,. let's have some girl fun. Take it as making up yesterday's disappointment. I'll be expecting you this time... Reallyyyyy'.
The beep on the other end was enough to tell Sophia her caller hung up already. Sophia plopped on her bed, staring at the ceiling for quite sometime trying to gather herself and her thoughts. Maybe Parsley was right? Maybe she isn't?
Dead Drop Gorgeous Men like him always have reputations of being the bad guys. Lucas Fernando... Is it possible he's one of them. Her heart had been broken by her first love and ex boyfriend. One thing Sophia could not afford to do is risk her heart again. She just couldn't do that.. What if he's not as attracted to her the same way she is attracted to him?? It's better to stop now.
