Mated to an Inurian

Prologue and Chapter One

                                                                                       Prologue

       Ten years ago a virus plagued our people, and for some unknown reason this virus only targeted our women. Those that were lucky enough to survive the virus unfortunately became barren, but not many survived in the first place. Finding mates became nearly impossible, our best scientists started working right away to figure out a way to save our species from extinction. After a few years they figured out a way to find mates from other planets and species, that are compatible with ours. Inurians actually choose their mates, once a mate is chosen they go through the "Claiming" and their souls are bound for eternity. Inurians also believe in love at first sight, so our scientists figured out a way to match Inurians with a potential mate that is the best likely match for that particular Inurian.

      To make things fair every unmated Inurian male is put on a list and once they hit age 28 they are eligible to receive a mate. When their match is found that female is then brought to Inuria, the Inurian male they are matched to then has exactly one month to win over the female and go through with the claiming. If the female chooses not to go through with the claiming their memories from being on Inuria and erased and they are sent back home. There are some requirements for the potential female mates. They have to be single, have no family or ties to their community and no one who would be looking for them once they are taken to Inuria. They also have to be 21 or over to be considered for the Match Program. Over the last six years doing the program we have made some progress with repopulation. 

      Hopefully as the years go on our numbers will get back to what they once were. When the women are brought to Inuria they get embedded with Inurian technology, allowing them to understand and speak our language. They are also given a full scan to make sure they are healthy, and if any health issues or injuries are discovered they are healed. The women are also given vaccines that were created to make them better able to adjust to our climate and prevent them from catching alien viruses. They are then handed over to their Inurian mate and the one month process begins. If the claiming is excepted the pair have a ceremony that is similar to a human wedding, then the pair goes on to start their lives together. 

                                                                               Chapter one 

                       (Treyzek Kaikro) 

      I lay in my bed staring up at the ceiling, I turned my head and looked over at my clock. It is currently 3:15 am and I can't sleep. I am too anxious. At 10am I have to go to the auditorium because I am finally old enough to get a mate. From what I have been told after the assessment at the auditorium there is a twenty-four hour wait before receiving a mate. So many thoughts are running through my head. What will she look like? What will she sound like? How will she feel in my arms? I have been waiting for this day to come, and now I will finally be able to meet the woman I will be spending my life with. At the same time I am also worried, what if she doesn't like me? What if she denies the claiming and rejects me? 

     I knew I had to get some sleep because it is going to be a long day, so I closed me eyes and tried to calm my racing mind. After awhile I could feel my body getting more and more relaxed. The last thought I had before falling asleep  was, "I'll meet her soon." The incessant blaring of my alarm woke me up at 8:00 am. Seeing I only have two hours until I have to be at the auditorium I jumped out of bed. I went straight into the bathroom to take a quick shower, the second the hot water hit my tense muscles they started to relax. When I was finished with my shower I opened the bathroom closet and grabbed a towel. I wrapped the towel around my waist and walked over to the mirror. 

   I wiped the fog off the mirror and looked at looked at my reflection. My white hair and silver eyes caught my attention and for the first time I started to wonder, what if she isn't attracted to my appearance? I quickly pushed the thought from my mind and left the bathroom. Then I went into my closet to get dressed, I chose black pants, a blue shirt and a black jacket with black shoes. Once I was dressed I went downstairs for breakfast. I passed by a few of my maids as I made my way to the dinning room. When I got into the dinning room my breakfast was already waiting for me. I sat down at my usual seat and looked down at my plate, breakfast for today was roasted Cualli,(which is similar to what humans call pork) with mashed Povaka (A type a vegetable that is similar to what humans call Yams) and toasted breel loaf. (A loaf made of grains only found on Inuria) 

   My stomach growled signaling it's need to be fed and I dug into my meal. When I was finished with my food one of the kitchen staff came to collect my dishes. I thanked him before going back upstairs to brush my teeth, after brushing my teeth I checked the time. It was 9:15 am, almost time to head over to the auditorium. I still have a little bit of time before I have to leave though, so I sat on the couch  and turned on the tv. (Yes, we have tv's on Inuria as well as being able to view human tv shows and movies we also have our own news station and a few Inurian tv shows) I watched tv for a few minutes before turning off the tv and going to the auditorium. When I got there I opened the door and went inside. There were a few other Inurian males there but the auditorium was no where near full. There were a few males running the check in's, when it was my turn in line the clerk said, "Name please?" I stood up straighter and replied, "Treyzek Kaikro." 

    He checked his list before looking back up at me and saying, "Okay, please go take a seat on the left and someone will be calling your name soon." I thanked the man before going to sit down where he instructed me to. I didn't have to wait long, a few minutes later a different clerk called my name. I stood up and walked over to the guy who called my name. "I am Treyzek Kaikro." He looked at me and said, "Follow me please." I followed him into one of the rooms that are usually used for meetings. Except the table that was usually in there was gone and in it's place was a couple of chairs, an exam table and some tech equipment. "Please take a seat and we will got over some information, then Dr. Velnac will be with you for the more technical stuff." I did as he asked and took a seat in the chair closest to the exam table. "First thing first, Occupation?" I cleared my throat and said, "I am an engineer." He wrote that done in his notes, he asked more questions like height and weight and family history. 

   Finally after an hour past and many questions were answered he looked back up at me and said, "Okay, Dr. Velnac will be with you in a few minutes." Then he got up and left the room, closing the door behind him. I stood up and stretched, feeling stiff from sitting for too long. The door opened and I was surprised to see a woman in a white coat entering the room. She was definitely not Inurian, but more than likely was mated to one. Her golden hair and skin and blue eyes led me to believe she was from Chrysos. She smiled at me and said, "Good morning, my name is Dr. Velnac. I would just like to say there is nothing to be nervous about. The procedure will be mostly non invasive except for a blood panel of course." I took a deep breath before saying, "Okay, I'm ready." She had me take off my jacket and sit on the exam table. "So, we are going to start with taking your blood pressure. Then we will draw your blood to get that out of the way." 

  I just nodded at her and let her put the blood pressure cuff on me. The cuff tightened around my arm then a few seconds later the cuff loosened and Dr. Velnac said, "Okay, your blood pressure is good. I'll just draw some blood now then we can move on to the next step." She pulled over a tray with needles and other equipment needed for drawing blood. She tied a band around my arm and got the needle ready. She got the vein on the first try and I barely felt a thing. Once she had enough blood she removed the needle and taped some gauze to my arm where the needle had been. "Now that's done we can move on to the brain scan." She attached this weird helmet with wires to my head, she looked at me and said, "Don't worry, you wont feel anything. If you can please lay back, close your eyes and relax." I did as she said and lay down on the exam table and closed my eyes. 

   There was a light buzzing sound coming from the helmet, soon I felt myself drifting. I thought of my future mate and was startled when a gorgeous woman's face popped into my mind. I had no idea who that woman was but she sure was beautiful. She had long curly brown hair, and bright green eyes. Her skin was tan and her smile was dazzling. I felt a tap on my shoulder and opened my eyes. "I'm finished with the brain scan, I can remove the helmet now." I sat up and she unbuckled the helmet and took it off me. She set the helmet down and wrote some stuff down in her notes before saying, "Okay, there is just one thing left to do and then you can go." She took out a swab and said, "I just need a cheek swab and then we are done." I opened my mouth and she gently swabbed the inside of my cheek before placing the swab in a sealed envelope. "Okay, Mr. Kaikro we are done. We will call you when your mate is ready for pick up."

   I thanked her then left the room, I quickly left the auditorium and went home. When I got there I decided to work out for a bit. I went upstairs to change into workout clothes, then I went into my home gym. I went straight to my Trekker 3000. (Similar to a treadmill) I turned the machine on and got started. I ran for half an hour then turned the machine off and moved on to lifting weights. Just as I had finished with the weights I received a call from my father. I picked up the call and said, "Hello father, how is everything?" He replied, "Hello son, everything is fine. I am just calling to invite you to dinner tonight." I wiped the sweat from my forehead before saying, "Okay, sounds good. What time?" There was a slight pause before he replied, "How about 7pm?" I didn't have anything planned so I said, "I'll be there." We said our goodbyes and ended the call. After ending the call I decided to have some lunch, so I went back downstairs. I asked the kitchen staff to prepare something for me then went into the dinning room to wait. 

   A little while later one of the kitchen staff brought out my lunch, it was a delicious soup made from zuelly ( Meat of a Zuell, which is an animal that is similar to a lamb) and a side of fresh steamed Inurian vegetables. Seeing as how I have the next month off work for the claiming period and have nothing to do until going to my dad's for dinner tonight I went into the living room to watch some tv. I settled on a human tv show called Park's and Recreation, I have seen a few episodes before and thought it was funny so I leaned back on the couch and focused on the tv. I guess I didn't realize how tired I was, I fell asleep on the couch half way through the episode and didn't wake up until two hours later. I turned off the tv and stood up to stretch, then I went upstairs to get ready to go to my father's for dinner. I decided to take a quick shower because I was still sweaty from working out earlier. 

  After my shower I went to my closet to pick what to wear to dinner, I decided on some dark blue dress pants, a white undershirt and matching dark blue sports jacket. My father always did like formal dinners, just as I had finished getting dressed I got a call. I looked at the caller I.D and saw it was my friend Kione so I answered the call, "Hello Kione." His booming voice came through the phone, "How was today?" Kione has been a friend of mine since I was a child and he knew all about me finally being able to receive a mate. "It was a long morning but it wasn't that bad, they are going to call me when she is ready for pick up." I knew he would be calling eventually to ask questions because he is not yet old enough to receive a mate, he has one more year to wait. "I'm happy for you Trey, 

    We talked for awhile longer before ending the call and heading over to my father's house in my hover car. (Yes we have hover cars in Inuria) It didn't take long for me to reach my father's place, I parked the car and went over to the front door and knocked. My father's butler Jaloong answered the door, "Welcome Mr. Kaikro, your father is waiting for you in the den." I followed him inside and went to the den, my father was sitting in his chair having a drink. He looked up and smiled when I walked into the room, my father and I look a lot alike. We have the same white hair and silver eyes, but he has always had a more stern look. "Treyzek, how are you son?" He stood up to hug me, my father may look like a stern man he is actually a very nice and loving person. 

   After having a drink with my father we moved into the dinning room for dinner, and like always even though it was just us it was a fancy affair. It was a delicious meal so I couldn't really complain, it would be nice to see my dad loosen up a bit though. As we ate he asked me questions about earlier today at the auditorium and how I was feeling about being so close to receiving a mate. We also talked about my brother who is currently away on a trip to Vilos, the "party planet". My brother is still young and is in the party phase of his life, but in a few years he will be old enough to receive a mate and hopefully settle down some. After dinner we said our goodbyes and I left to go back home, It had been a long day and I was feeling kind of lazy so I went to lay down on the couch and turned on the tv.

   I walked into my little run down apartment and set my beaten up purse on the coffee table and dropped down onto the couch. I just finished the night shift at the crappy motel that I work at and I was exhausted, I grew up in the system and even though I constantly preyed I would get adopted one day I never did. I aged out of the system and was kicked out onto the street when I turned 18. I stayed in shelters and sometimes when there was no room I would even sleep at the park, things got better after awhile I found a job at the motel where I currently work and found this little place. My life might not be great, I don't have any family or friends but at least I am alive and have a roof over my head. Sometimes I wish I could just be taken away from this life, and start over somewhere new. The one thing I want most in this world is to finally be apart of a family and have a home, not just a place where I sleep and keep my stuff. Growing up in the system and never knowing my parents might have made me a bit awkward and anti social, it was always hard for me to make friends and then when I would finally make a friend I would have to move so I just gave up. When I aged out of the system I was just so busy working and trying to keep myself alive that I really didn't have the time to try to make friends, and now I just feel like what's the point.

   It is now currently 7am and I should really go to sleep soon if I am going to be able to work the night shift again, I got up off the couch and double checked to make sure the door was locked before going into my bathroom to take a shower before bed. I turned the shower on and waited a few minutes for the hot water to turn on before stepping into the shower. I shampooed and conditioned my hair before grabbing my body wash and scrubbing my body clean of the sweat and grime of my work day. When I was done in the shower I dried my body off with a towel then blow dried my hair. Then I put on my favorite night gown and grabbed my cell phone before heading into my room and climbing into bed. I typed in the passcode to my phone and waited for the home screen to appear, but it didn't and suddenly my phone started to glow until the whole room was bathed in a bright white light. The light got brighter and brighter until I couldn't see anything and started to feel disoriented, then I blacked out.

  When I woke up I was laying on an exam table in a weird looking room I had never seen before, I sat up and looked around the room trying to figure out where I was. There was a knock on the door then a lady in a lab coat walked in, my mouth dropped open in shock. There is no way this lady is human, her hair and skin was gold and she had starling icy blue eyes. She smiled at me and said, "Welcome Korri Velt, do not worry their is nothing to be afraid of we mean you no harm." So many thoughts went through my head, what is happening right now? Where am I? What am I doing here? Am I dreaming? Although I seriously doubt this is a dream because I never went to sleep. "Where am I and what am I doing here. Also who are you?" She just smiled and slowly came closer, I guess trying not to startle me. She put her hand on my shoulder and said, "I'm sorry I know this might be confusing for you, My name is Dr. Velnac. You are on Inuria and planet quite far from your home planet that I believe you call Earth." 

  It took me a minute to process what she just said, I was no longer on earth. Is that even possible? Am I hallucinating right now, or can this possibly be real? "Okay, let's say I believe we are no longer on earth. Why am I here?" She took a seat in the chair in front of me before replying, "You are here because you have been matched to be the mate of one of the Inurian males who are currently unmated." I was in shock, I mean I have read stories like this. Alien romance books, but never in a million years did I think things like this happen in real life. Seeing how stunned I was she smiled and said, "I know this is a lot to process, I do have a film here I can show you that might help explain things better. If you can please turn your attention to the tv." I thought it couldn't really hurt to watch this film, and it's not like I have much of a choice anyway so why not just do it with no arguments. 

  The film started and I couldn't look away, Inuria is beautiful. When it got to the part when the virus hit and men lost their mothers, sisters and mates I couldn't hold the tears back. It was so sad, when the movie ended I wiped the tears from my face and took a deep breath. "So what exactly does this all mean? What do I have to do?" She turned off the tv before turning to look at me with a smile on her face. "You have been selected to be the mate of an Inurian male named Treyzek Kaikro. You will go home with him and at the end of the month long mate trial you will complete the mating ceremony and your souls will be bound to each other. If you decide he is not the right fit for you we will erase your memory of your time here and send you back home." If I am being honest I am lonely and I do feel sad for their people and their loss, it didn't take me long to decide that I want to give this a try. "Okay, so what happens now?" She stood up from her chair and said, "We will do a quick exam and then go over some information about your mate and also about Inuria." 

  The exam wasn't that bad and went by quickly and painlessly so that was good. Then she started to go over some information about Inuria and the wildlife and dangers here. When she was done going over that we moved on to talking about my soon to be mate. His age, his job and his likes and dislikes. She even had a couple pictures of him to show me and he was very handsome, his white hair and silver eyes might seem off putting to some but if I'm being honest I love his look and his eyes are the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. Maybe life is going to finally start getting better for me. There were also some fears going through my head, what if he doesn't like me? What if he finds me too awkward or what if he isn't attracted to me? There is only one way to find out for sure, I just have to go for it and hope it all works out in the end. So with my mind made up, I made a promise to myself to give this my best shot and reach for my happily ever after.
