The car stopped in his driveway, and Maddox alighted. He had purposely announced a change of plans just to avoid facing his mom. Thankfully, she left two hours ago in a fit of rage. Maybe she could see through his ploy.
Did she meet Iris? He didn’t want her to. There would be another battle at home if she knew about Iris’s entry into his life, for five long years. It would mean her plans wouldn’t work on him.
He looked around the estate with dread. Why was everything so eerily quiet, as if no one lived here? He knew the twins had left for the university. But what about Iris? If she had left, Gavin would have informed him, right?
