TIANA'S {POV}
After we finished eating, Elizabeth along with the other maid came and cleared the table.
Silence fell between us, with Demetri carrying a distant calm expression on his face as he stared outside.
The night breeze gently ruffled his platinum blonde hair, strands shifting across his forehead beneath the pale glow of the lights outside the terrace.
"If you keep staring at me like that, little sparrow, I might start to assume that my thoughts are on point and you like men." His eyes drifted toward me as he added, "Or is it just me you like?"
My eyes widened, blood rushing up to my face instantly as I quickly averted my gaze.
A low chuckle left his throat.
Then without saying another word, Demetri pushed his chair back and rose to his feet.
I found myself staring again despite trying not to. The man was unfairly tall, his broad back and shoulders almost blocking the dim light spilling from outside the terrace.
He stopped a few steps away from the table.
For some seconds, he stood there silently like he was contemplating something important.
Then he finally spoke.
"Go to bed, little red sparrow."
He didn't turn to look at me this time, and his voice suddenly sounded more serious than before.
I blinked at him before slowly reaching for my iPad from the table.
I was already halfway toward the hallway when my steps paused.
My fingers tightened slightly around the device.
Then before I could overthink it, I turned around and walked back toward him.
Sensing my presence behind him, Demetri glanced back at me over his shoulder.
I quickly typed onto the screen before lifting the iPad toward him with a faint smile.
Thank you.
His eyes settled on the words for a brief second.
Then he simply hummed.
"Goodnight, little sparrow. Run along now."
The corner of my lips twitched slightly before I finally turned and walked away.
But when I reached the door, my steps slowed again.
I glanced back at him one last time.
Demetri was still standing there beneath the dim lights of the terrace, one hand tucked inside his pocket while the night wind moved through his pale hair.
For some reason, the sight made my chest feel strangely warm.
Then I quietly stepped out of the room.

MARCUS'S {POV}
I was standing outside on the terrace of my room staring up at the night sky when something, or rather someone, caught my line of sight.
It was the boy whom Demetri seemed so fascinated with.
My gaze settled on the little thing.
He was just leaving the main house and heading back toward the workers' building.
My eyes remained fixed on him until the sound of my sheets rustling caught my attention, and I looked toward the bed.
"What are you doing standing there?" Lydia asked as she slipped out of the bed, staring at me with a small frown while tying the straps of her robe around her waist.
"Nothing," I responded, watching her as she strode over and kissed me.
I didn't resist the kiss. Instead, I deepened it, about to wrap my hands around the woman's waist, but she suddenly pulled away.
"I'm still mad at you, you know," she pouted, crossing her arms over her chest, her robe shifting with the movement to reveal a generous amount of her bosom.
"What did I do this time?" I asked, even though I already knew where this was heading.
"You gave the gift you got for me to Demetri. The boy was mine." She looked upset as she spoke.
I looked away from her, my gaze falling outside the window again only to find that the subject of her anger had already disappeared.
"If you want a pet or something to care for, then I can get you a pet. A rabbit preferably. What do you say?" I looked back at her only to see the deep irritated look that had settled on her face. "You know I had no choice but to sell him to Demetri, right?"
It wasn't a question.
Even though Lydia was impulsive, she had been with the man for a year and warmed his bed long enough to understand that whenever my brother wanted something, he always got it.
"I don't want a f*****g rabbit," she half snapped. "I want my property back by tomorrow."
Now she was starting to irritate me with this bitchy attitude.
My voice dropped lower as I said, "Then go to Demetri and ask to have him back. But before you do that, I hope you haven't forgotten what kind of person my brother is."
Her eyes widened slightly before she looked to the side.
I turned and began striding toward the door.
"Where are you going?" Lydia asked behind me.
"I'm going out to get some fresh air. Don't wait up for me."
I didn't bother giving her a last glance before stepping out the door.
The reason I even got myself involved with Lydia was because I needed her father's support.
After Demetri entered the coma, our organization was left vulnerable without a leader.
Even though we were number one, there were brave challengers who wanted our position once they realized there was no one standing in their way, that the devil they feared was half dead.
Such was the rule of the mafia world.
Lydia's father, being number two, offered his full support after his daughter's persuasion. And for me, her terms were simple. Since Demetri, who was her lover, was out of commission, I would fill his place.
But now that Demetri was back, there was no reason for me to continue this relationship with Lydia.
In fact, I needed to end things as soon as possible.
I blew out a cold breath just as I reached the workers' house.
The main door was unlocked as it always was, and I entered the house without making a sound.
I did this most nights to ensure that everything was in order.
It was well past midnight, so the house was silent with everyone already fast asleep.
My shoes clicked softly against the floor.
Just as I reached the stairway leading to the second floor, I caught sight of someone from the corner of my eye looking around cautiously before entering the bathroom.
It lasted only a brief five seconds, but I recognized the face well.
My eyes narrowed.
"What are you doing here this late, Flico?"
I immediately changed direction and moved toward the bathroom.
It was the male bathroom.
Having no intention of interfering with whatever he was doing in there since it wasn't my business to know which person or gender my men f****d as long as it was consensual, I turned, about to walk away from the place.
But after a sudden shrill scream echoed from inside, I immediately went back and shoved the door open.
Steam filled the bathroom, making it difficult to see clearly beneath the single dim flickering light hanging from the ceiling.
I heard a deep grunt before Flico's voice followed.
"After I'm done f*****g you, I'll share you with the other guys. They'll be thrilled to discover that you're a woman. More holes for us, heh."
When the light bulb finally steadied and brightened, I could properly see what was happening.
Flico was on top of a woman desperately trying to shove him off her while he undid his belt carrying the look of a madman.
My jaw clenched, anger quickly bubbling inside my chest.
"WHAT THE f**k DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?" I roared, my voice thundering through the bathroom.
Flico immediately jumped off the woman.
His eyes widened the moment he saw me as every trace of colour quickly drained from his face.
"M–Marcus. W–What are you... this isn't what it looks like." He waved his hands frantically in front of him, trying to come up with an explanation for what I'd just witnessed. "The slut came at me naked and tried to force my c**k inside her."
"Didn't think I would ever hear such an absurd lie in my entire life."
My gaze was deadly and cold, causing the fool to gulp and stumble backward.
Then my eyes dropped toward the woman in question, and my jaw nearly slackened.
It was the supposed boy I bought from the auction and sold to Demetri.
For a second, it felt like my eyes were playing tricks on me.
But the obvious curves of her breasts made it impossible for me to believe I was imagining things.
