"Please, stay awake," Kendrick shouted as he tapped the girl's face, she was slipping away. She had lost so much blood, he feared she was going to die before she could be treated.
"Hey ... Hey... Stay with me," he whispered again. The lady who came to call him from the office stood beside him, holding her hands as they wheeled her into the Pack hospital. She was rushed into the theatre, and only then did Kendrick notice the girl was crying.
He moved to her and tapped her back, he didn't understand why she was crying but he just wanted her to stop crying. She looked at him and sniffled.
"Is that how you fight in your Pack?" She asked, a strange look in her eyes.
"No..." He assured her. He had never seen Helen that wild, biting someone who was already hurting wasn't something she should do. He taught her that. He glanced around the room to see if she followed them in but he didn't see her.
"Her name is Jasmine," the girl filled him in. He looked at her and nodded.
"I thought you were new, how'd you know her?" He asked.
"She's my sister!" She snapped at him and he moved back startled.
She was hurt, it was her first training and her sister had been beaten to a pulp.
He placed his hands on her shoulders and pushed her onto a chair. She dropped into it heavily as she covered her face with her hands, sobbing so hard her body shook.
He tapped her back softly. Allowing her to cry, he had a lot of questions to ask but he needed her to calm down. They stayed that way till she finally stopped crying.
He handed her a towel to clean her face which had now gotten puffy and red. She blew her nose loudly into it and stuffed it into her back pocket. She glanced at him and hissed.
"Now, you want to talk?" She asked with a scoff.
He remembered she had tried to communicate at the fight field, he shook his head and smiled. She sure was petty.
"I'm sorry about that. I was so focused on watching Helen."
"She's not your mate, why were you so engrossed with her?" She asked
"I like her," Kendrick admitted innocently.
"She's a beast, why continue to fight a wounded member?"
The mention of a beast made Kendrick's stomach churn as he remembered the gory sight he had seen in the morning. He also didn't understand why she fought that way.
"It's probably stress," he muttered, covering up for her.
"Her mate's in your Pack" The lady responded so quietly he almost didn't hear her.
"And how do you know that?" He knew mates could be in different packs but you had to come in contact with them before you could smell them.
"My mum smelt him," she replied, playing with her fingers. It made no sense, only mates could smell mates. She looked like she was about to say something when the doctor walked into the room.
Kendrick stood up at the same time the lady stood up. They faced the doctor who raised his hands midway to calm them down.
"She's going to be okay, she's stopped bleeding and she's received blood transfusions so she would be fine," he stopped and as If remembering something continued, "She's not healing."
Kendrick glanced at the lady beside him, a puzzled look on his face.
"She's not healing?" He asked the doctor.
"Yes, the wounds aren't healing. We've stitched some but I decided to inform you before we stitch it all."
"She won't heal," the lady muttered sadly.
Kendrick excused the doctor and faced the lady. "Why won't she?" He asked softly
She looked down at her feet, before swallowing gently. "She has no wolf," she revealed.
That's why she hadn't transformed, Kendrick put a hand to his mouth as he took in the revelation.
"Was that why you left your Pack?"
"We didn't leave, we were banished. Our parents fought back, refusing to leave and they killed them. We escaped before they came for us. That's why we had to join your Pack." She let out with a huff.
She looked so pitiful, Kendrick suddenly felt bad for not listening to her earlier.
"That's why we wanted to learn to fight, that's why she got into the box on the first day, she's heartbroken and she knows they'd come for us," she continued.
He held her hands gently in his as he realized he hadn't asked for her name. "What's your name?"
"Kayla," she smiled as she answered.
"You're from which Pack?" If they were coming for them, the least he could do was get prepared.
"NightGlow Pack" she whispered and he gasped. That spelt trouble. Had the Alpha not made enough enquiries before allowing them in? The Alpha of her pack was one of the most brutal Alpha he knew.
"NightGlow Pack?" He repeated, hoping he had heard wrongly.
"Yes. Alpha Thorne," she muttered and he felt his heart sink.
